When will media ever get it right re: Abramoff & Reid?

I'm not going to paste the entire article, but the headline screams "Reid added Abramoff clients, records show." This is old news, and a poor attempt to tie Reid directly to Abramoff. If you glance through the article, it does try to paint such a picture.

You have to get halfway through the article before you come across this teensy tiny little detail: But it said none of his actions were affected by donations or done for Abramoff.

"All the actions that Senator Reid took were consistent with his long- held beliefs, such as not letting tribal casinos expand beyond reservations, and were taken to defend the interests of Nevada constituents," spokesman Jim Manley said."

So the article acknowledges there are no direct ties to Abramoff - so why the big push to try to make it look that way?

1. Because most people just read the headlines and the first paragraph

This gets the propaganda out, and only the truly interested will read further. The damage is done, and they go on thinking the headline is the truth. F'd up, but it works.
