My RE-thug Sister-in Law Works For FEMA
Edited on Fri Feb-10-06 01:38 PM by Joe Fields
This has to do with Katrina aid and FEMA.

My Rethug sister-in-law (she's drank gallons of kool-aid. I don't know how my devoutly Democratic brother has put up with her. It's a lot like Carville and Matalin, and I cannot believe the sex is that good)somehow wangled a job with FEMA. She was trained in Florida, then sent at first to Baton Rouge. She stayed a couple of weeks in Baton Rouge, complaining through e-mails about her housing conditions. (She was put up in a 1950's era strip motel.) Then they sent her to New Orleans.

Her job is strictly to help victims fill out the mountain of confusing paperwork for some possible aid.

Now this is what really chaps my hide, and in fact I told her to SHUT THE FUCK UP. She continued to bitch about her living conditions. (Again, she was put up in a strip motel. She bitched about her cable TV not having the Sci-Fi channel, and THEN she bitched about her hours being cut from fifty hours a week to forty hours a week. For CHRIST'S sake, she is getting paid THIRTY DOLLARS PER HOUR, plus free lodging AND a FORTY DOLLAR A DAY PER DIEM.

On top of all of this, she happily sends through e-mail shock pictures of the devastation, as if she is Rita Cosby.

She makes me sick. I wish my brother would divorce her. They are so diametrically opposed to each other on politics, that they do not speak politics to each other. But when ever the family gets together, he and I talk nothing but politics, and it STEAMS the hell out of her.

2. They are both in their fifties and have three kids.
All are in their 20's. Two are republican and one is a democrat.

9. I think the only reason that one of the girls is republican is because
She attended NYU and was living in a girls dormitory just six blocks away from the twin towers when the hi-jackers hit them. She was apolitical until that morning. She thought Rudy did a good job. That, plus her mother's constant brainwashing... Her dad, (my brother) works 60-70 hors a week.

4. You would think...
...that sitting at the epicenter of one of Bush's disgusting failures--she would realize how awful he is.

In addition, I've heard the Katrina paperwork is grueling. In fact, a Katrina survivor that I know, hired a friends' CPA to fill out her papers. It took the CPA two solid days, and several phone calls to FEMA, before HE could figure it out. You would think all of this frustration would help her to see that Bush is not interested in helping anyone.

So, her biggest concerns are the lack of Sci Fi channel? That's all that is registering with her?

Have you considered sending the email pics she sends you, to the press? Most people don't see the devastation anymore. They assume the cleanup is progressing nicely. Maybe someone from the media would find the pics interesting. It's worth a shot.

I'm sorry you have a SIL like this. I can relate. I'm sure many others can as well.

If your SIL can't see the light--while she's sitting in the blinding light of a Bush-created disgrace--then I have little hope for her.

Keep discussing politics in front of her. Let her get steamed...

6. I wrote her an e-mail and told her that since she didn't have the
sci-fi channel, she could watch Fox news instead. Same difference.
