Ha! CNN 3-Way Poll On Brownie Has Opposite Effect
Edited on Fri Feb-10-06 02:43 PM by stopbush
Here's the question:

Is former FEMA boss Michael Brown being made a scapegoat for the sluggish response to Katrina?

The response options are:

Yes, he’s being made a scapegoat
Yes, but he deserves much of the blame
No, he’s just whining

"No" is polling only 17%. The two "yes" answers are almost identical in their meaning, though "is being scapegoated but deserves much of the blame" is pulling 56%. I would guess that CNN hoped to split the "yes" vote and show the longest thermometer bar on the "no" answer, but it didn't work. 87% say he's being scapegoated in one way or the other.

Maybe they'll pull the poll and rephrase the answers...or they'll report that "only 27% believe Brownie is being scapegoated while 56% say he deserves much of the blame."

On edit - added the usual CNN poll link: http://www.cnn.com/

1. I think, if anything, this poll is slanted in our favor...
I mean, it's not as if there's a "No, the blame lies with state and local officials" answer. Every answer makes Brown, the administration or both look bad. So how is this slanted toward Bush?

2. Didn't CNN have a poll last year
in which they rewrote the question because they didn't get the result they liked?

4. Of course he's being scapegoated

Bush transferred FEMA from being an independent cabinet-level agency to being dependent on the Homeland Security department, and then refused to fund it. Brown was meant to be nothing more than a figurehead and highly rewarded Rethug crony--why do you think there was no need for him to be qualified?
