Wow, Bush and Cheney don't inspire much loyalty, do they? |
|
First Casino Jack, outraged that his old pals have deserted him, teases the media with the news that he has pix of himself and the Commander in Chief yucking it up in various locations. Then opens his heart like a jilted prom queen, or a reality show contestent, in an e-mail to a reporter about how George used to ask him about his kids and how he would have gone to Crawford but it would have meant he'd have to travel on the Sabbath. Apparently Jewish law, as interpreted by Abramoff, is real strict on that travel thing but ripping off clients is perfectly cool--Go figure--he must have been absent when they went over that "thou shalt not steal" thing at shul.
Next, Scooter Libby pulls a Flip Wilson, and tells thw world that the devil made him do it--well in this case it's Dick Cheney which is close enough for me. Apparently ol' Scooter doesn't relish being the designated fall guy or doesn't believe that if he has to take the fall on this, Bush will pardon him after a couple of months at Club Fed.
And now, today, Heckuva Job Brownie, has decided that he will not throw himself in front of a bus for the administration and came to a Senate hearing armed with e-mails and phone logs which pretty much show that he really did try to warn the Crawford Cowboy that he was about to go down in history as the only US president to lose a major US city. In short, Brownie dropped dime on Dubya.
Contrast this with the situation with Bill Clinton. Remember how someone, I think it was Susan McDougal, did hard time rather than betray her old friend, Bubba.?
Republicans are not good friends to have in a crisis.

Yup it does look like alot of'em are jumping ship. Today Lou Dobbs went off on Shrub calling his administrative the most arrogant and incompetent in history in front of guest Ed Rollins and Rollins just sort of nodded in assent.
Didn't Rollins work for Poppy? or was it Reagan.

8. I keep saying, they are juveniles. |
|
Edited on Fri Feb-10-06 10:53 PM by higher class
Only reckless, disobedient, rebellious, careless, non-caring juveniles -
. assume they can get away with it . lie . steal . deceive . break the law when they know better . delight in showing off . are arrogant about the law
Sometimes, the juvenile is just plain sociopathic.
Republicans are juvenile.
They are panting to break the law. They get a rise out of breaking the law.
They are transparent and they don't know it - a form of the emporer without clothes.

14. Excuse me? They stole two elections, took us to an unjustified war, |
|
Edited on Fri Feb-10-06 11:59 PM by The Backlash Cometh
filtered billions of dollars to Halliburton with no bid contracts, stole millions of dollars from the American Indians, filtered billions more to their cronies in private schools through vouchers and faith base initiatives, sat back and watched more than 2000 soldiers die with little criticism and now they're conspiring to sell off public land...
I think that's a whole lotta loyalty. I don't think they ever expected to get away with it forever. They just expected to redistribute the wealth for as long as they could under the cloud of chaos. You might say that their pyramid scheme has come to an end.
And if you really want to get depressed, know this: Their Republican voters know that this period of chaos and anarchy was a calculated risk. They know that the corruption was a by-product of having so many resources available to them. And having Tom Delay on the Appropriations Committee should scare the shit out of you. They're just going to put their money away in a safe bank, serve their time, and laugh their way into retirment when they get out.
The only way to make this a win is to find the spot on the Republican ladder where the trickle down effect didn't trickle down during this period of chaos, and try to talk logic into those fools who are poorer today for having voted against their interest.

19. These are kiss up and kick down sort of people |
|
Sure, they reward their backers but the footsoldiers along the way are expendable--and they're starting to find that out.
Let's take Brownie. He was rewarded for his work on the campeign with a plum spot at FEMA. Qualifications, schmalifications--he's one of us. Besides, deep down they believe that government doesn't work so why not put in a loyal incompetent who's primary job is to make sure that contracts to to, you know, the right people.
They made sure he didn't screw up too bad during the Florida hurricanes in 04--and once the election was over emergency response just fell of the radar screen until Katrina loomed over the horizon.
The big storm ripped the roof off the Bush administration. Bushco tried to defend their guy but once the media got hold of his resume which bore as much resemblence to the truth as James Frey's memoirs he was toast.
He was radioactive.
What's interesting is that they didn't take care of Brownie. Here's a guy who can spill the beans on them and they just left him out to dry--after a few weeks on the public payroll as a consultant of course.
Bill Clinton made sure even Monica Lewinsky got a nice job and a shot at a book deal.
Brownie got zip, zero, nada. You'd have thought that some GOP connected firm would have found the guy a six figure job sorting paperclips, but nothing.
He became a non-person--let's face it--would you hire him?
Now Heckuvajob Brownie has pointed the finger back at Bushco. He'll probably get himself a few talk show gigs and maybe a shot at a book deal--if he doesn't have an unfortunate fatal accident before then.
Good for you Brownie, get ready for a shitstorm that will make Katrina look like a sunshower and let the games begin.

20. I think Katrina is a lot worse than many realize. |
|
That's why they needed a scapegoat. I think a whole lotta people died in Katrina and that story will eventually come out. They've been trying to hide the number by attributing deaths to other than the hurricane, but when one brilliant reporter takes the time to add them up all together, I think it will be a catastrophe that needed a scapegoat.
As for Libby, he held out a good long time. You can't control everything and when Judith Miller didn't write the story he had leaked to her, and instead spread it to someone else to write, that wasn't in the plans. Yet, there still is something to Judith Miller. Who sent her the fake anthrax? Why her? How much of this was planned beforehand?
The house of cards is falling, but when we have trillions of American dollars and a shattered economy to deal with, you got to ask yourself, maybe this was also part of the plan. Marcos had stashed away money that he had robbed from his people. Cheney and his gang have probably done the same. They will still need grease money for the hearing and trials that are yet to come.

After all, if he rolls over on Cheney, poof! there goes Shrub's mentor. AND it would mean that he's breaking the ultimate code - he's disloyal.

Really, is there any doubt that it's all about how they can enrich themselves off of government? They are really good at wealth transfer, they just don't do public service very well (see Katrina incompetence).

But your point is well taken. These bush cons are the Corleones on acid. They demand absolute loyalty to themselves but they don't stand by anybody or anything. If you are inconvenient they will throw you in the river.
