Wish we could impeach the entire administration. Unfortunately, facts keep getting in the way.
First, we don't control the HOuse. The Republicans aren't going to impeach.
Second, even if the Dems took back the House AND the Senate, impeachment isn't enough to remove an officer from office. She must also be convicted. That requires 2/3's of the Senate. We are never, in the most optimistic scenario, going to get that.
Third, we'd have to impeach them one at a time; you can't impeach an administration, only individual office holders. That would give the next in line time to appoint a vice-president to take his place as he went down. That way the line of succession would never get down to the Democratic Speaker of the House.
Fourth, the MSM would be all over this, obstructing at every turn, digging up dirt on the leaders of the impeachment process, smearing fine, patriotic Americans without pity.
We might be able to impeach Bush, or Cheney, or maybe both, if we take back the House. Something that seems possible, but is far from certain, even if Diebold is eliminated. But a conviction is only a vanishingly small possibility. It would, however, be a powerful symbolic victory just to impeach, or even have a hearing without impeachment. And, of course, payback for Clinton, which would be good.
But the overwhelming probability, IMO, is that we will continue to live under the BFEE regime until 2008. That will be our chance to throw the bastards out.
Let's not miss it. Clark for President.
