I am sorry Pennsylvanians
but Lynn Swann is an idiot.

For your sake, let's hope this 'I'm running for governor' is just a temporary phase of his.

1. I second that
I predict Rendell wins 54% to 42%, Pennsylvania is not stupid

5. Rendells votes will come from the corners of the state;
And those rust belt towns that can see what the Repubs are doing to the working man. The gun-nuts and those who think they made it on their own working for P.S.U. and other State jobs in the T zone will follow Swann. Rendell may not be a football hero, but has a large grassroots Democratic support.

7. hmm, state workers will vote for Swann?

Don't write off the middle of the state. All it needs are Dem candidates that inspire. A number of Dems are consistantly elected to state offices.

There are some active Dem groups in the PSU zone, btw.

It's bad enough that the Rethugs write us off as a bunch of idiots who would vote for a football player to run the state.

Please, Democrats don't write us off, too.
Please, Rendell get some better pr people.

12. sorry, it was a generalization;
but as a State worker I hear my fellow workers say that Swann will lower taxes, and I tell them yes . by taking away your job. I know there's lots of blue in the center but I have family there and know that's there is lot's of illogical red , with a gun in one hand and a Bible in the other..

24. An observation about that center of the state
Cause I grew up there. I think they'd have a very hard time voting for an African American governor. They not only love guns and "god," but they also hate quite well.

19. Yeah, two of best friends live in Bedford.
She's always been a Democrat and her husband is a recovering Republican. :)

Bedford is just below Altoona. Can't get more in the middle of the state than that.

17. There's a lot of red in the center, to be sure
But it's an increasingly suspicious red.

I suggest Rendell will get more support in the red counties than otherwise suspected, and I'm talking Blair, Cambria, Huntington, etc. People are fed up here, to be sure, with the GOP mantra. Centre county will go Rendell, and anyone but Santorum.

2. I can't understand why so many people insist that jocks are suitable for
public service. Did they all lose their memories? Sure some jocks are bright, even brilliant occasionally, but most often they are just dumb-ass jocks.

And the terrible towel with the Steelers helmet on the table next to him? I'm a diehard Pittsburgh fan and was like, "GIVE ME A BREAK!"

while I'd prefer a pro-choice Democrat for the Senate, I hope Sick Rick goes down hard to Casey.

6. Lynn Swann is an idiot is the same thing I said this morning.
The man stands for everything and stands for nothing all at once. He didn't even know what overturning Roe V. Wade meant for the states.

11. Hey, when Swannie was a Steeler, I LOVED HIM! He was the BEST!
The Bradshaw, Stallworth & Swann trio was umbeatable!

But for God sakd, I don't want him as my Governor!!!!!!

I wonder what the Pub leadership who just endorsed him thought when they heard him say "I don't stand anywhere" when George asked him about stem cell research? I didn't think they like those kind of responses.

In a large part of Pennsylvania, a Steeler could get himself elected Pope if he wanted...

20. to paraphrase the other post;
I love the guy who owns the local pizza shop, makes the best pie I've ever had, but I don't want him as Governor. I don't think it will take much to make this point to others. Renndell is well entrenched in Pa., Swann is not. So until the Governor has to catch passes, Swann had better get a platform.

21. also...
do not underestimate the fact that the Alabama portion of our glorious state ain't voting for no black man. they were upset enough that a Jew, albeit a non-practicing one, is the incumbent.

I spent months in Central PA as a clinician, and you are better off in the Deep South because there you have had these issues addressed. In the hinterlands here, it has NEVER been an issue.

My wife brings up this matter , all the time. As I said ,I have family in the centre, and they ( my family) view any person of color as if an animal to be viewed in a zoo.

against Rendell.

Yipes, people. Just yipes.

A brainless ex-football player ready to run the state of PA? Welcome to Bush's America!
