Feeling the Red State Blues

As a clear thinking, well informed, resident of the state of Georgia capable of reading the local paper without moving my lips, I came to the conclusion a few years back that I have absolutely Zero representation in the US Senate. Now that I have recently moved, (only two exists south), I find myself in a new congressional district with a new congressman. Oh happy days. Rep. Lynn Westmoreland, a freshman republican with—according to his website—a penchant for the ten commandments, among other things. I went from having a centrist Democrat, David Scott, who I could count on at least half the time, to a full-blown booger-eating Talibangelical thug.
I took a peek at some of the House Resolutions he co-sponsored. : Support for prayer at school board meetings. He wants the ten commandments displayed in the hall of the House of Representatives and the Senate. He supported an amendment to the Constitution of the U.S protecting religious freedom. I thought that was covered in the first amendment—oh well. Of course he wants to keep the repeal of the estate tax permanent—he is a wealthy land developer. He supports the repeal of the income tax, abolishing the IRS and enacting a National retail sales tax instead. (This is a fantasy of fellow congressmen John Linder and the hectoring fascist talk radio blowhard Neal Boortz) My new congressmen also wants to make sure that all women seeking an abortion are fully informed regarding the pain experienced by their unborn child. What a guy. He also felt it necessary to honor the 50th anniversary of the National Review in H.RES.551 Suffice to say I am clearly a man with out representation at all in Washington. I think I’ll enjoy e-mailing this clown from time to time. I find that somewhat cathartic and I’m sure my last congressmen will be relieved I moved.

3. Sorry to Hear It
Tell ya what... since Ted Kennedy is my Rep. and has enough love for all of America, I'll adopt you, that way we can share.

Also, Marty Meehan, Barney Frank, and Kerry

19. I regularly write to Kennedy
since I have adopted him. He sends me the same stuff that he sends everyone. I don't expect him to write back but it feels somehow calming to write to someone who is on the side of the American people.

My senator Brownback could eat those boogers on national TV and my neighbors would call it communion.

the pain her unborn child will experience: NONE.

Sorry, fetus fetishists, but that research has been done.

27. on the brighter side I get to call his office to complain about his latest
moronic statement quite frequently - and always put in the bit about how Goode is the one BAD thing about moving to Charlottesville from Alexandria.... Jim Moran was a GREAT rep!

Edited on Sun Feb-12-06 11:16 AM by Left Below
are two Bush bootlick rubberstamps. When Alito was confirmed,I envied the people who might actually force their Senator into thinking.

These two guys are jackasses who cater to the greasy-headed Bible thumpers in Georgia - and guess what? They elected both of them - so what can I say?

14. I feel your pain too. I have a Talibornigan and an obstructionist fascist
enabler as my senators. It does get frustrating. I still contact them when big votes come up, but on the rare occasions they reply to me, the replies just make me feel worse. :banghead:

15. We had this problem
formerly living in the avocado jungles of northern San Diego county. Same clowns, just slightly more urban. only benefit living in red state hell. If your new freeper neighbors don't threaten you , going to meetings with your GOP clown and hassling them can be fun .
In red areas, your neighbors might shock you with their stupidity. But, it is fun going in with a crowd of blue people and asking questions they have never heard.
If they don't think you from another planet, you might just start some new thoughts to roll about in their brain. But, if they are freepers, you might just find yourself being stoned.
I hate the fact, most Congress members do not reply to citizens out of their districts. Often, I would call other Congress members who can think. More effective means of spending your dollars.Would tell them I need adopt a new congress member, because mine is brain dead, immune from citizen feed back.
But, then a blue congress member came to our district to talk to Democratic organizations. He said, all congress members read the newspaper's editorials and what positions civic clubs are taking.
If you can effect certain organizations or make waves in your district, even freepers can be influenced with enough pressure. And I find it fun, raining on their parade.

16. I feel your pain in Texas. My "senators" are complete boobs and my
"congressman" is a DeLay clone-wannabe, who doesn't get dressed in the morning without Bugman approving of his garanimals matching.

No representation whatsoever.

I long to have "representatives" who are actually smarter than me.

Sounds like we're in the same boat, adrift on the Red Sea!

17. what we need is a change of the electoral system
to insure better representation. We all know Democrats gathered more votes in congressional races than repugs. and we are stuck with this sorry lot. Proportional representation is the only way to gain us an assemblance of democracy.

18. I agree that our electoral system is in bad need of an overhaul.
Of course it nicely suits the inferiors that rule us all, so I expect no change, short of another American Civil War.

Until then, we will be ruled by lucky, dim-witted tyrants and their brain dead minions.

Edited on Sun Feb-12-06 01:54 PM by cyclezealot
to eliminate so called unpopular views.. Unpopular views that would probably generate % 20 of the vote, if nutured. two parties can be controlled more easily.or at least they attempt to. I like the saying, Democrats have to be bribed to do what Repugs do automatically. my question is how to incorporate proportinal representation and still have a local representative.? Is there not some organization called Center for Electoral Democracy.

23. 35-45 minutes
I'm a little over half an hour from Atlanta which isn't bad at all. I think I'm the only person within a 20 miles with an anti bush bumper sticker. I'll survive this by getting under the skin of the political types--starting with this wingnut Congressman.

I work for a large freight line--Teamster too. My estimate is that 30% will vote for Dem's and 30% will go for the fascist's and the remaining 40% are so apathetic they won't even go to the polls.
