If anyone is wondering why Karen Hughes is MIA
Hughes' office has room to improve

A new feature of the administration's proposed budget for 2007 is a Web site, www.expectmore.gov, that tracks how various government programs are performing.

Buried amid the welter of things that mainly concern efficiency geeks is an item of political interest: a program judged as "not performing" is the office of public diplomacy at the State Department.

The office is the operation headed up by Karen Hughes, Bush's longtime communications adviser, who joined the State Department last year to help improve the country's image abroad, particularly among Muslims.

Hughes' tenure at the State Department has been short and bumpy.

:rofl:Looks like Ms. Hughes should devote more time to her family.

8. Maybe not...
Check out this article from the New Yorker about Michael Gerson, then President Bush’s chief speechwriter in the New Yorker. This is the guy who is putting the words in George's mouth and truly beleives what he writes. It's a little scary...

3. Or maybe they've hit the PR "brick wall."
There's only so much PR can do. Once people are on to your lies, there's no amount of PR that will help.

I guess I'm saying it's not her fault the Repigs are all so horribly stupid.

9. I LOVED the women who stood up to her, YELLED at her...
...CHALLENGED her and asked "How dare you tell us how to live OUR lives?"

It appears that many of the people on Karen's "U.S.A. is A-OK" tour really DO love their "freedoms," particularly their freedom of speech when an overbearing hack tries to ram her tired ideology down their throats.

Say goodnight, Karen.

:scared:

13. Something about that woman is unsettling, disturbing...
Edited on Sun Feb-12-06 01:27 PM by Fridays Child
I've never been able to put my finger on it, though. She's not terribly unattractive or anything like that. But there's something...maybe it's that her eyes don't convey any humanity. I mean, take Condi. She looks angry all the time but at least there's some expression in her eyes. Rove's eyes convey a sense of extreme pleasure, even if it is with himself for his nefarious plots. Cheney looks plain mean and hateful. Karen just looks empty behind those beady little eyes of hers.

15. I know what you mean
its just her facial expressions, the persed lips, that give me the heebee-geebies. But not as disguisting as shrub's other nanny, Condi, and definitely not as despicable as Mary Matalin.

17. You gotta wonder what happens when the ugliest...
Democratic activist and the ugliest Republican activist get together. I mean has anyone ever actually seen the kids of James Carville and Mary Matalin?

(Note: I love the "Ragin' Cajun" but, damn, he's uglier than the north end of a southbound bull.)

Top US imagemaker to visit UAE, Qatar
(AFP)

12 February 2006

WASHINGTON — Karen Hughes, the US administration’s top imagemaker, will visit Qatar and the UAE in the Gulf and Germany on February 17-22, the State Department said on Friday.

Hughes, the undersecretary of state for public diplomacy and public affairs and a close adviser to President George W. Bush, will travel first to Qatar, where she will participate in a forum on the United States and the Muslim world organised in Doha on February 18.

She also is scheduled to visit the UAE amid a Muslim outcry over the Western publication of the blasphemous cartoons.

25. We should all embrace Karen Hughes...
she's yet another example of how incompetent people are put in positions of power by incompent people (Bush specifically). Just like how Gonzo the other day brilliantly informed the American people that former Presidents such as George Washington, etc. have legally authorized the use of electronic evesdropping on U.S. Citizens.

The question is, will the Dems be SMART about this and use it to their advantage, i.e., shout it from the rooftops that this administration is run by incompetents hiring incompetents.
