Video and transcript of Dean putting up with Miles O'Brien's spin this AM
I swear they get the script from the RNC. I did not see this, but found the video and transcript. Interesting exchange at the beginning, does this mean the Governor traveled all night to get to a breakfast and the interview...I assume in NYC? Not sure where Miles is found.

Howard Dean, Democratic National Chairman, who spent eight hours getting here from Washington.

DEAN: I did.

O'BRIEN: Just because of us here on AMERICAN MORNING. No, actually he's got a breakfast. The things these guys will do for a free breakfast.

And here is a good part of the interview, where he says the Republican party makes personal attacks all the time.

O'BRIEN: OK. All right. The Republicans, after you appeared on "Face The Nation" on CBS offered up a statement. Let's put the statement up on the screen there. And it's "Chairman Dean delivered his signature mix of pessimistic and wild-eyed rhetoric today," meaning yesterday. "All the Democrat Party leader was able to offer were negative and baseless attacks and an agenda that the president and the Republican led Congress are already enacting." That was from a spokesman.

What do you say to that when you hear that?

DEAN: That's why the Republicans have been so incredibly unsuccessful in running the country. Whenever you have something to say, have always have to make personal attacks. The truth is, we have a tremendously positive agenda. One, we want honesty and openness back in the government. Two, we want a defense policy that requires telling the truth to the American people and our soldiers. Three, we want jobs in America that will stay in America. Four, we want a healthcare system that covers everybody and not some horrendous farce like this drug benefit program that they put through. And five, we want a public education system that restores optimism and opportunity in America. I think that's a pretty good platform.

Then he later had to repeat the points as Miles rephrased the Democrats are so angry and ineffective meme...

O'BRIEN: When you're kind of on the ropes as you are on the outside, no is the first answer, but you've got to come up with something else, right?

DEAN: Well, I just did.

O'BRIEN: Yes.

DEAN: That's what I'm talking about. We want healthcare for everybody, just like 36 other countries have. We want jobs in America that will stay in America, and decent jobs. And we want a strong defense that's based on telling the truth. Now I think that's a pretty good platform to start with. Not to mention bringing honesty back to our government again. I think that is a positive platform. That's just what we want.

1. I don't know how Dean does it
I would be so incredulous as the selective memory of the corporate media. 30 seconds after Dean says Here's what we stand for....Miles is asking So, just what is it that you stand for?

3. Geez, Miles O'Brien is either incredibly thick-headed or afraid to stray
away from the CNN script!

14. He absolutely is.
He once interviewed a Congressman who was speaking with gravity about the need for "comity" and giggly Miles interjected "Yes, I agree, we could use more comedy!" There was a stunned pause before the interview continued.

A man who often confuses his hair for his brain, he is a Freeptard's Freeptard.

18. It was memorable, to say the least.
I recounted the event here on DU when it happened YEARS ago. Maybe 3, 4 years ago?

4. Miles even questions who Libby's superior is.
DEAN: What Vice President Cheney's been accused of doing by his chief aide, who's been indicted, is ordering the chief aide to leak national security information for the purpose of talking about his political opponents and trying to put them down. And that is really a violation. A terrible violation. If Vice President Cheney has, in fact, ordered the leaking of political information, of intelligence information, that means that he has to step aside. We don't know if it's true, but he's been accused of it. If it's true, he has to step aside.

O'BRIEN: Well, not accused by name though. I mean I guess it's by . . .

DEAN: But when you're the chief of staff -- what Scooter Libby said was my superior . . .

O'BRIEN: Former chief of staff for the vice president.

DEAN: Right. Who was indicted. My superior ordered this. Well, you only have one superior if you're the chief of staff and that's the vice president. "

17. Scooter Had Several Bosses...
Careful with this one...I got stuck in this one and straightened out the other day.

Scooter worked for TWO bosses. First was Crashcart...his main gig as Chief of Staff. His second was part of the NSC staff...where he had several layers above him. His immediate boss there was Hadley (this is whom my friend believes Fitz is referring to).

Now I don't mind playing tit-for-tat here...distoring a story for political points. It's about time. There's never been a better time to get Crashcart and defang him than now. But, just be careful, this story could come back to bite Dr. Dean if someone else plays that gotcha game with him and he's not prepared.

22. I see Blitzer replayed part of this on the Situation Room.
He was pretty courteous about it, however the screen had this: Dean vs Cheney.

LOL, I guess.

The part of the interview he played was good and clear.
