Didn't you just know it would happen?
When you go to some of the other message boards you frequent that have people of various political stripes or "off topic" forums that you would see.....

Posts defending Cheney saying things like this happen to hunters all the time.

Posts saying that anyone who makes fun of this incident is sad.

Posts denying they would be making fun of Democrat in the same spot.

Posts spinning this into a rant against PETA/Humane groups.

Threads starting out about Cheney somehow ending up on Ted Kennedy.

Posts spinning the discussion off topic into "good natured humor" in an oh so subtle manor. (EX: The guy was a lawyer.......a good start. HAR HAR!)

1. Not to deflate your balloon, but...
people are stupid and careless. They shoot each other pretty regularly, both purposely and accidentally. Just because it happened to 'Dicky' only means he's, well, stupid and careless...

6. I totally understand that......
...and I do think that some people here are acting like this is some rare thing that never happens and only Cheney could "get away with it". But I'm just commenting on how predictable it is that the first thing out of some people's mouths on the other side is a "no big deal, typical media making it a story."

7. I agree with that completely. They are too quick to defend this hole
just because he wears their insignia. This shouldn't really be a partisan issue, but rather an incident where someone should have exercised a little bit of common sense.

The only thing I find ominous about it is that we have people running our country who obviously struggle with something as simple as gun safety.

2. Yes, and my local TV news report saying the shooting
happened when Whittington "got in Mr. Cheney's way". Now THAT's what's sad.

3. When a hunter in any way covers up any aspect of a shooting incident,
he is in big, big trouble.

4. When are the "Darwin Award" backslappers going to weigh in?
They were all over the Net about two weeks ago.

5. How would their tune change if Cheney had been the victim?
I shudder to think about it. :puke:
