2. I was thinking Scooter Libby
after all, he said he was ordered to leak information from "his superiors". I heard one line on this story this morning, with speculation on whether Fitzgerald would be investigating Cheney, and then nothing but the accident story.

4. No
I think they'd heighten the terrorist alert system or release more info on a "former terror plot", or do a big bird flu speech to deflect media attention.

This story has too many embarassing elements for it to be planted by Rove. How can you possibly spin the fact that the VP has shot a 78 year old millionaire in the face while hunting? "Oh, it's just a little spray in the face" while the elderly man is in ICU? Ha.

More info released makes it seem even a harder story to find positive information about: the police were not allowed to intervene, the WH hid the story, etc.

I think there are a lot of more important stories out there now, but I can't see any good reason * would want this in the headlines.

8. Once the wingnut didn't die, they might as well take advantage of it
to divert away from Scooter's "my superiorS authorized".

10. No, but.........
once it had happened why not use it to their advantage-first the 18 hour delay to get the blogs sphere (both sides) going "was he drunk?" lets face even if he they could have silenced that.

12. No, but we sure seem to be wasting allot of time on it.
More people get hit by pellets while quail hunting than any other bird hunting. It's mostly done in thickets or thick brush, the birds flush in every direction, some never getting over 6 ft off the ground. Both people, along with the remaining party of hunters involved, say it was an accident. I hunt quail and guide quail hunts every year, and no matter how hard you try to keep everybody safe, "Shit still Happens".

We have bigger fish to fry.

14. One thing though
most people who get hit by pellets don't spend 4 days in the hospital (CNN said he should be released on tues)

13. Wouldnt put it past Satan-Cheney to shoot someone for a diversion.
He is one mean SOB.

However, I think when you have 1) accusation of treason (i.e he is the superior who told Scooter to do it), 2)accusation that treason has robbed us of ability to moniter nuclear weapons in Iran (see Raw story) 3) accusation that your company is defrauding the US government of billions (see 60 Minutes) all in one weekend it can be pretty distracting and that was probably why he got an itchy trigger finger. Would not want to see that finger on the old red button.
