A Little Something To Help NOLA And Tulane University
I just read a message from an Anthropology listserve that I am on. It was entitled:

Tulane Dept of Anthro devastated - needs book donations

Tulane University (Home to our own Swamprat among many, many others) was badly damaged the hurricane and associated flood and returning students and faculty are trying to make due. One thing that would help would be donations of books. In this case to the anthropology Department. However, I am sure many other departments may be in similar need.

They are asking for donations of Anthropologically themed books of all sorts. That would include:
Archaeology Physical Anthropology Cultural Anthropology or Linguistics

If you have old texts you could donate please send them REGULAR MAIL BULK RATE (as they say that everything send to them by Fedex and others is stuck in some sort of disaster related limbo) to the following address:

J. Maxwell
Department of Anthropology
Tulane University
New Orleans, 70118

I am sure they would appreciate anything you may be able to part with. Feel free to pass this info along if you know anyone else that may have materials that they could donate.

Thanks.

DA

1. Those who have access to good used bookstores
Edited on Tue Jan-03-06 04:41 PM by KamaAina
in places like Cambridge, the Village, or Berkeley, where these kinds of titles might be available, might consider making a run on behalf of the Green Wave. I mean, you were going to make a used bookstore run anyway, right?

I'd do it myself, but it's tough enough to find even general fiction titles at either of our tiny used bookstores, plus there's that transit dependence thing.

a Tulanian only briefly, but it shall remain on my resume so long as I have a resume

edit: a point of clarification, plus I just realized your nearby college bookstore might work if you aren't in an area that has a good general bookstore.
