What issues would you run on (ideas for 06' candidates)? |
|
Mine would be...
1) Environment (Global warming, Alternative Energy, etc..) 2) Health Care (not Bush's, 'you figure out how to pay for it' plan) 3) Outsourcing of Jobs and Immigration 4) Checks and Balances (Cronyism, Lies, No accountability, Republican corruption)

6. I agree it's something that needs to be addressed, but... |
|
I don't think that issue would excite voters. We need to get rid of the Republcans first.

3. Energy independence. Homeland security. |
|
actual homeland security, not the travesty that BushCo implemented. Disaster preparedness, well funded FEMA, well funded fire departments, police, extra hospital capacity, etc.

I forgot about FEMA. This could be a big issue for Democrats in 06. They need to use it.

7. War, health care, retirement, corruption |
|
We got a LOT of people who aren't going to be able to retire, or afford good healthcare, or be able to afford to bury their kid that got killed in Iraq. But Halliburton, Exxon and Merck are getting tens of billions in windfall profits. Each.

8. Oh, my! Where to begin? Clean up the mess |

that this administration has made. That will take at least 3 administrations...maybe 4?
Put laws in place to bring the checks and balances back into play and make it so this situation we have with this present administration can NEVER happen, again.
Straighten out the Medicare D fiasco by negotiating drug buys to get the best bang for the buck.
Environmental problems, running from global warming to water quality to fuel alternatives....
Apologize to the world for what the last 8 years have done and work to bring as many as possible back into the fold. We are hated so.
Pass a law to take away any pension/benefits to retiring Congress persons who are charged with fraud, crimes, bribes, etc., such as we've seen in the past 5 years, and pass laws to stop this type of corruption.
Bring our educational system back into line and elminate the NCLB program.
Eliminate or rewrite the Patriot Act to guarantee protection and privacy is restored to each and every citizen, unless they are found to be in violation of the law.
Build our military back up and start bringing our people home from Iraq.
The above are just the tip of the iceberg. There are SO many...

Reinstate taxes on ability to pay Rescind Person-hood for corporations Properly fund Medicare and Medicaid. Government funded Higher Education for anyone who wants it. A living wage. Stop the out sourcing. This is destroying our country. A GI bill for our military. Free education for every X amount of time served. Money to buy homes. Encourage savings. Congress has same the retirement and health care as the rest of us.

14. Candidates should run on what they really believe in, not on |
|
what some polling service tells them.
Then they should fight for their issues, whether they have any hope of success or not, because then they can tell their constituents, "I fought for you. I didn't succeed, but maybe next time."
