We need to never let them forget these things |
|
We need to make sure that the media doesn't ever let some very basic concepts drop off the screen, otherwise we ill be right back at square one:
WE predicted the failure to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. WE were the ones to point out that the war is an excuse to invade on flimsy excuses. WE were the ones to hold the administration to the fire on Iraq.
We need to make sure the message gets around about who the Repubs are: a cult. This has to be hammered home as much as possible. 5 symptoms of a cult- 1 The organization is willing to place itself above the law. With the exceptions noted earlier, this is probably the most important characteristic. 2 The leadership dictates (rather than suggests) important personal (as opposed to spiritual) details of followers' lives, such as whom to marry, what to study in college, etc. 3 The leader sets forth ethical guidelines members must follow but from which the leader is exempt. 4 The group is preparing to fight a literal, physical Armageddon against other human beings. 5 The leader regularly makes public assertions that he or she knows is false and/or the group has a policy of routinely deceiving outsiders.
Above all else, we need to point out that we saw all this coming, and were shouted down continually. We have to make sure this message gets home: the direct, necessary place that the Repub policies for the last 25 years lead is right into a bunker. We cannot let this thought go down the memory hole-the Repubs are frantically struggling right now to distance themselves from Bush (Bush was a front man anyway) while at the same time hang onto the corrupt policies that the Bush adminstration has exemplified. We cannot let them put this off on Bush, as if it were all his policies that caused everything and if we'd just stuck to the NeoCon agenda we'd be sitting pretty. We have to make sure that the public knows that the true NeoCon agenda is an enslaved world and is compliant and weak American public for low-wage labor and bullet-stopping worldwide.

1. Good analysis - republicanism has become a cult. |
|
Certainly the "Christian right" is a cult, and has been since Reagan. But now it's almost the whole republican party.
Thanks!

3. Cult is completely accurate |
|
I share an office with a rethug woman. We get along fine except for politics. No matter what the issue, she's got her brainwashing down pat. She hates Hillary, but it's perfectly ok that the US tortures people in Iraq and Guantanamo because "there are hard-core terrorists" and "What about the beheadings?" It is impossible for me to argue with her because I start getting so emotional. And she just mouths the propaganda like a well-trained Moonie.

4. And if we don't make it irrefutably clear that the politics are to blame.. |
|
and not just Bush/Cheney messing up. They WILL try to run that thought, and they WILL try to put us right back into the situation of US as 3rd world country run by Christonazis, if we ever can manage to get rid of them this time.

In addition to feeling so much anger at these people, I also feel astounded that so many people can just go along with something without question.

that they have all ready gotten away with everything so far, how is any thing to change when we have no power in which to do so?
They've won, until things change.

Which is why I say "if we ever get rid of them this time." We're not there yet, by any means.
So, IF we ever do manage to get things back, we need to make sure that we hammer home the point that the policies of this bunch are bad, not just the personalities.
