A Small Act - Am I crazy? |
|
Today I was doodling at my desk... I whipped out several ones and with a red pen wrote "IMPEACH BUSH" on them.
I thought about what the world would be like if all the people in the world had such messages on their money.
Crazy? Just wondering. :-D

3. And why is "Wheres George" info printed on the bill okay... |
|
B ut this isn't?
I mean there's a whole "wheres george" website and everything but no one rips on them for 'defacing' bills.
Or is it only innocuous, happy crap you can write on the bills?

5. I think you may have meant to reply to poster #1 |

and BTW, it's not illegal to write on money, as long as it's not rendered unidentifiable and, therefore, unusable. I think it's a good idea and have done it myself. Good job.

8. well ... I was just continuing in the vein of the "and ..." questioning |
|
I was just continuing the "and ... " question. "And who's going to know precisely who did it" "And why is it legal otherwise" but I see your point. :-D
I only wrote it in small letters along the top of the bill. I was inspired when I noticed someone had written something illegible (looked like they were taking notes!) on the back of one of the singles. Then I remembered the "Where's George" stamps people used to put on bills...
Then I thought of that little Green George Washington as a billboard. :)

9. You cannot get arrested for defacing currency, except for fraud. |
|
This is an urban legend. You can put a beard and Groucho mustache on Hamilton so long as you don't change the numbers in the corners. In fact, the Treasury Dept. would love it if everyone would just burn a couple of bills every week.

4. I think it's worth doing. |
|
It lets people know that someone else is thinking this. It's one molecule in a groundswell (like the yard signs you can buy here in Ann Arbor). It is the little things like this that, when combined, will raise this to the threshold of public notice.
Keep it up.

7. I've gotten something similar |
|
When receiving change. I think the bill did say "Impeach Bush."
For what it's worth, it made my day. :-)

10. VERY interesting idea... |
|
...not that I would do it (just in case my NSA are snooping again)
How many notes do you think it would take before the MSM reported the trend? All of them???
