You know, the ones who were screaming when Clinton was President. They were howling about Janet Reno and government intrusion.
Now the wiretap investigations are halted and you can hear a pin drop.
The red state gun-toters, and their ilk, are schizoid regarding the government. Now they trust the government, implicitly.
I have a new slogan for them: "You can wiretap me...test my body fluids...but don't touch my guns"

3. That's strange since... |
|
...Kennedy was not found guilty of DUI or any alcohol. He pled guilty to leaving the scene.
How did they get info that Cheney was drunk?

They made Cheney their man of the year in 2004...perhaps they just know first hand what he's like.

Our very own gun activists from down in the DU Gun Dungeon. Normally, a few will slither up to the main forums when a gun-related thread appears, generally to ridicule non-shooters' lack of knowledge as to what this week's definition of an Assault Weapon is. But when NRA-decorated Big Dick drew human blood with his $18,000 Perazzi 28-gauge, our resident gunslingers got really quiet. A hell of a lot quieter than they were about John Kerry's goose hunt back in 2004. Keep that in mind, the next time one of these people demands that the Democratic Party adopt a 110% Republican policy on guns....

6. How many threads were there |
|
screaming about how "careless" John Kerry was when skeet-shooting, for example?
But then those "pro-gun democrats" are only fooling themselves

7. I actually did a survey of all the official state militia sites |
|
that I could find -- because I wanted an answer to this same question. I was pleasantly surprised that about half the militia links were anti-Patriot Act, anti-Bush, anti-Wiretapping, and had links to MIHOP and LIHOP sites. The other half, however, had bad midis, lots of God stuff, lots of "protect our country from the Mexicans" stuff -- remember, lots of militias jumped on the Minutemen bandwagon. Many of them have turned their eyes off the gov't, because they're expecting that Bushler will stand by a long-outdated philosophy of smaller gov't that the Republican Party doesn't own anymore. Either that, or they're happy that authoritarian fascists are in control -- something many of them wanted, all along.
Many of these militia people would rather point the gun at the "brown person," be he Muslim or Mexican, than go after the people who are really dangerous to him.
However, I'd say it is 50/50. Half the militia people weren't bullshitting when they said "freedom." It's nice to know they're out there.
