Congressman Conyers:Taking Back the Congress, Tim Mahoney

Taking Back the Congress
Support Tim Mahoney

From time to time, I would like to update you on the various Democratic candidates around the country that will help us take back the Congress, and who I believe deserve your support. I have already mentioned my support for my friend and former -- and future -- Congressional Colleague Nick Lampson, who is trying to unseat Tom DeLay in Texas. Today, I'd like to tell you about Tim Mahoney.

Tim is running to unseat Mark Foley in Florida's 16th district. The district includes the northern Part of Palm Beach County and counties northward. It is a classic swing district, it broke down the middle in recent presidential elections, and has gone strongly for Senate Dems like Bill Nelson and Bob Graham.

I met Tim last week and was tremendously impressed with him and am very optimistic about his chances of unseating Foley. Tim is an entrepreneur, has created many jobs, and is also a successful rancher. If we are to take back the House, ultimately our chances will rest on races like Tim's, where we are expanding the playing field and making the Republicans play defense in a seat they had taken for granted for far too long. Tim has a passion for policy, and will be a tremendous benefit to his district and the state if he is elected. I support Tim and plan to contribute to his campaign and work for his election.

If you have a chance, please check out his website, TimMahoneyForFlorida, and if you can, consider making a donation.

1. We hear you, Congressman Conyers...
If I lived in nutty Florida, I'd certainly vote for him.

2. A few words, just to let you know this is Rahm's hand in picking.
Just like everywhere, all over. Tim was a Republican until last July, and he did not become Democrat until they recruited him.

There are two Democrats running in the race, but they are not rich.

He was handpicked by Karen Thurman and Rahm. So I guess all the people in that district just got their candidate picked for them...the DCCC is paying for his website. Trying to find out if they are paying for the websites of the other candidates.

Here is my post.

All that said, I guess if I were in that district, I would vote for David or Carol in the primaries....and vote for the Democrat in the election.

4. AZ District 1 same way
Jack Jackson Jr. a NAtive American man approached by Rahm to run against Rick Renzi(R) has pretty much been abandoned the DCCC because he has only raised $140,000. This district is rural and has a lot of Native Americans who are among some of the poorest in the country. see www.backjackson.com

5. It's all about money. I wish I had enough money to give to all the ones..
who have been screwed by Rahm and Chucky. I would gladly give them all some money. There is so much to give to right now, and it is very hard to make the decision.
