Only in LA...
Ferrari Crash Prompts Partial Closure of PCH

MALIBU - An apparently speeding Ferrari crashed on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, prompting closure of the roadway in the area.

Paramedics were sent to PCH at Decker Road about 6:15 a.m., said Los Angeles County Fire Department Inspector Ron Haralson. One person suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene.

According to broadcast reports, the vehicle could have been traveling nearly 200 mph when it slammed into a pole.

The cause of the single-vehicle crash was under investigation, according to a deputy at the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station, who said the motorist's whereabouts were unknown.

3. Yes, I live in the LA area...
and have experienced the freeway Bonsai Runners...

Coming home in the early am hours on the 101 NB leaving LA County we were passed by two of
something racing well in excess of 150+.

It is exactly what you would imagine..swosh and then swosh again, and your not really sure it happened.
If you strain hard you might see tail-lights way ahead in the distance.

A rich boys' sport: Maserati, Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari...those types.

Total bummer: Rare Ferrari destroyed in crash

MALIBU, Calif. - Authorities are investigating the circumstances behind a spectacular crash on Pacific Coast Highway that destroyed a rare Ferrari Enzo estimated to be worth more than $1 million.

The red Ferrari was going at least 100 mph when the driver lost control and struck a power pole, investigators said. The car — one of only 400 made — shattered, with its engine coming to rest on the highway and its wreckage scattered.

Sheriff’s investigators identified the owner as Stefan Ericksson, 44, of Bel Air, who escaped the wreck with only a cut lip.
