1. I'm not a big conspiracy theorist or a glass half empty person |
|
But I have to say my eyebrow is raised a bit by this. I'm not sure if there is more mischief afoot with this Administraion, but on the other hand, maybe the common man and woman on the other side of the political fence from us, really are pissed off about this, and are pressuring the repukes in Congress.
We'll see.

3. You're suggesting that Bush is sacrificing himself for his party in 2006? |
|
Edited on Tue Feb-21-06 08:12 PM by htuttle
Since when have you EVER, EVER known Bush to be willing to sacrifice even the smallest bit for anyone?
??
Just saying that, like the Scorpion, his nature is his nature, and he can't change it. I think he was hoping that nobody would really notice the ports deal.

21. I think they were expecting to get away with it |
|
They were thinking the republicans would be following them etc. but they're pissed off now too. They weren't expecting it I think. They've thought all this time now they were above the law and could get away with anything but now this has surprised everybody.

17. Not necessarily. More like another piece of s**t Chimpy is |
|
trying to pull off. I had lunch with my co-workers today, and one of them said, "You know, there are so many stories, so many scandals, so many potential scandals, going on now, it's hard to keep up with them." I agree. If there were just one or two stories, I would definitely see this as something to take attention away from those one or two stories. But I think it's reached the tipping point now, where Chimpy has overreached, and people all over the political spectrum are sayin, WTF? I could be wrong, but that's how it seems to me.

19. I think you are right. |
|
I have been saying this for days. What better way for the repukes to shed the image of lockstep then by blocking *'s deal. It will also provide the illusion of bipartisan cooperation to the general public. We are being played. Been saying it for days. The only way to beat this is to be first and loudest. Unfortunately we are already too late. Repukes put the breaks on this and they look like they are protecting America. It was a lob and we missed it.

26. There is a money trail to follow |
|
but with the issue of national security involved I have to believe that it is meant for a political advantage. Either they want to paint us Dems as oblivious to security issues or paint themselves as nonpartisan best intrest of the country coopertive statesmen. The $$$ will go to manchurian global(halliburton) or Carlyle group. That is just flame bait. To make us look like the angry left. I haven't got it all figured out but I am sure this is not what it seems. I was waiting for the other shoe to drop then Frist came out against it this morning. By being first and loudest we got caught choking the chicken again. Repukes can claim nixing the deal was a security issue. Dems were sleeping and would have allowed the deal....... ad nauseum. Still thinking on it. But it has to be more than $$$$$
