The militant Muslims are too vicious to understand that the US and |
|
its coalition have succeeded in turning them against each other AND their own religion. Very sad that the beautiful mosque in Iraq was destroyed. Under Saddam this never would have happened. At least the factions respected their own religious icons and places of worship and prayer. Could the destruction of Islam be any more complete than what we have unleashed? It appears than none of the sects have anymore self respect or mutual respect.
Of course, this assumes that all the work of destroying mosques is really being done by Muslims of the various sects.

1. You fall into the same assumption that this is all a religious war. |
|
It actually has nothing at all to do with religion. These Arabs have seen their oil sold off from under their feet by a few powerful people that claim Royalty while they live in abject poverty. They have gotten Satellite TVs and have seen the wealth and prosperity of the USA and realize it was at their expense. They don't hate us for our freedoms or our Religion but they hate that they do not have the same and that it is their wealth that the USA is wallowing in. It has nothing to do with religion other than that is the purpose people gather together and talk about issues. Only in the USA is the turmoil considered to be a religious matter. No one in the Arab lands claim such a thing...

You are right about the peace under Saddam. Why did we ruin it?

4. You're assuming the mosques are being destroyed by Muslims? |
|
Naturally, I question that assumption.

5. Actually, based on the deaths of approximately 40,000 Afghans.... |
|
...and 100,000 Iraqis, one could successfully argue that the U. S. under NeoCon leadership is too vicious to understand the point of view of any other culture or religion except that of Christian Fundamentalism. Additionally, the Sunnis and Shiites have been at odds with each since the 7th century AD: < http://www.ship.edu/~cgboeree/sunnisshiites.html> < http://www.fas.org/irp/crs/RS21745.pdf> < http://www.islamicweb.com/beliefs/cults/shia.htm>
