Just Finished Speaking With Kit Bond"s & Jim Talent's Offices |
|
About the Dubai port deal. Natually, I was only able to speak to the senator's secretaries. But I recieved encouragement from both offices. First of all, they were very polite to me. Secondly, I explained that since I am a citizen of Missouri, they represent me, as well as registered republicans. Next, I said that I didn't view this as a partisan issue, but had serious homeland security issue concerns about this deal, and questioned just what the hell the White House was thinking.(I said this in a very calm and coureous manner)
Senator Bond's secretary thanked me for my concern, but said that he wanted to review more information. So he was pretty non-committal.
Senator Talent's secretary told me that Talent shared my concerns, and that the phones had been ringing off the hook from callers on both sides of the aisle. She told me that Senator Talent is NOT in favor of this deal. Of course she could not give me a committment that he will do all he can to block it.
From what I gather, this deal has touched such a nerve with all citizens that the politicos ARE FEELING THE HEAT.
I say let's turn up the flame. If you haven't done so yet, please call your congressmen and senators. Do it again, even if you have. We can't let Bushco get away with this.

1. Talent SHOULD be scared. |

He's up for re-election, and McCaskill could make a pretty damning ad re: the port thing. :D

I prefer to identify as a St. Louisan, though. Makes me feel a bit more "blue." :)
