So, Is Iraq Still There This Morning? |
|
Our newspaper didn't cover Iraq on the front page - it was on page 13, I think. I found that very odd.
I think they covered some of the Port Authority Scandal - but maybe they figured that we Midwesterners wouldn't be too interested in Ports.
I have been learning alot about our Port System. Maybe this has all been a good thing. Now that the whole world knows how badly the security is run at the ports we may get someone to actually do something.

1. I was wondering the same thing. |

I don't have cable. There is nothing on regular TV but the usual mindless crap.

7. I got some info yesterday on the Iraq sites. |
|
I think it is a whole lot worse over there than we are being told.
CBS and Lehrer had some good footage last nite. And it looked pretty bad.
And the reporter on Lehrer called what is going on in Iraq a low-level civil war but that this attack could make things much worse. People were simply being told to go home and stay there - it was not safe on the streets. And the streets were crammed with angry young men with rifles. Every man over there owns a rifle.
About 100 mosques (mostly Sunni) were attacked yesterday. And 3 Sunni clerics were killed.
When all of this is over there might not be any Sunni's left to worry about.

11. I saw CBS last night and it did look really bad. |
|
They called it a civil war. But other than that, nothing.

4. Is that what Bush said? |

It certainly sounds like one of his arguments.

5. Well, something like 100 mosques have been attacked. |
|
And they found 30 people shot dead in various parts of Baghdad - hands bound, execution style.
Really, it's better not to know. :-(

8. ABC just reported that three buses were stopped and 46 Shia |
|
were killed - execution-style. A retaliation killing.
It is really horrible - even worse.
Sunni's pulled out of talks to form the government and blamed the Sh ia clerics for inciting the protests (according to the ABC GMA report).

Wondering about the murder and destruction we have brought to Iraq? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/4742188.stmObviously, u.s. media does not have the courage required for death scene reporting.

12. been getting this feeling |
|
That B*sh will try and use this as an exit and try to say something like our soldiers are in Iraq to secure peace but there's no peace to secure, or some crap like that.
For that matter, it would surprise me if they're behind the mosque bombing.
