One big difference between shrubco's America and early WWII Germany:
I don't know the proportion of volunteers versus conscripts, but didn't Germany as a nation much more actively support their army by supplying it with recruits? Something Americans are unwilling to do, and are not called upon to do because shrubco KNOWS they want no part of it, aside from the yellow ribbon magnet part.

Furthermore, the early German military adventures were military successes, which fostered the burgeoning nationalism and the emotional momentum of the whole thing. Imagine if, instead of rolling through Poland and conquering France etc., their very first move had been to get bogged down invading Russia, accompanied by news of Leni Riefenstahl getting brain injured by Russian shrapnel while filming for "Triumph of the Will". Maybe a different history, eh?

1. Another big difference.
Hitler had better than 30 something approval numbers.

And, oh yeah. While he was evil and insane, he wasn't a dumbfuck.

Wat

2. Yeah, but Dumbya's world domination plan is based on Rumbo's...
notion that you can win all battles and wars with technology and smart bombs. We rolled right into Afghanistan and Americans held up their "We're #1" fingers. We rolled right through to Baghdad, faster than expected, and Murkins held up their "We're #1" fingers. With the insurgency in its last throes (for how many years now?), Dumbya appears to be as confident as Hitler as he plans to invade Iran (Russia). We'll see.

4. Yes but the hard lesson from this is that OCCUPATION is not accomplished
with JDAM laser guided smart bombs dropped from stealth bombers.

It's carried out by 19 year olds from Alabama. Who are highly susceptible to bullets and shrapnel.

5. speaking of the last throes...........
.....that reminds of something Jon Stewart did. He showed the clip of Cheney saying that we are in the last throes and then he showed a clip of Rumsfeld testifying at some hearing in which he said there was no way to tell how long the 'last throes' would last. He said it could take 2 yrs, 6 yrs or 12 yrs.

Then Jon says...........ok, we've been in this war for 2 yrs. So the last throes could last 6 times longer than the actual war?

It was a good one!

Technology is good but as we've all seen, it's not the answer to all problems. If it were, the insurgency would not be a problem. And the technology also has not been able (so far) to detect IEDs.
