We lost a marine and his funeral was today.
He went to one of the local county schools, but I didn't know him.

Marine Cpl. Matthew D. Conley

21, of Killen, Ala.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif.; attached to 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward); killed Feb. 18 when his vehicle was attacked with an improvised explosive device while he was conducting combat operations in Ramadi, Iraq. Also killed was 2nd Lt. Almar L. Fitzgerald.

I went to a friend's house today and she works retail. She was telling me that a group of marines came to town for the funeral and were in her store talking about how much they hated George Bush, how they knew that their votes weren't counted if they voted for Kerry, and that they were ready for impeachment. I never thought I'd hear talk like that in Florence, AL. I'm also scared because I have former students over and this has really on my mind. Please let people wake up and demand an end to this war.

I also posted this in the Alabama forum.

I hope that the voters everywhere are waking up and will work to see that this stops. I hope the marines that you heard speaking are telling their families to work to bring it all to an end as well.

3. They sounded highly p*ssed!
They lost a friend because of lies and were saying their votes didn't count. Color me shocked in Alabama.

4. I think for many people, the political MUST become the personal
before they really wake up to what's going on. For these Marines, indeed for many military personnel and their families, it's getting more and more personal.

How many more George, how many?

*********************************************************************

I have friends who have a cousin in the navy .... the whole ship voted for Kerry.
In Ohio we had calls to the Kerry HQ from Iraq by servicemen who wanted to make
sure they voted for Kerry.

But then again KBR/Haliburton set up and ran the voting stations.
