what they should outlaw are the PEOPLE who make the dogs' behavior bad. They're the ones that ruin 'em.

15. We had problems around here with pit bulls a while ago
some dogs just have an instict to fight. The sporting dogs are fine, but some of the fighting breeds I feel shouldn't be near schools. When kids do dumb things like antagonize the dog, it could do some serious damage. Sporting dogs just bite and that's it usually, the fighting dogs seem to bite and chew and never let go. I agree that 9 times out of 10 it's the fault of the owner, but some dogs are genetically more vicious or maybe it's becuase they can inflict so much more damage. (ducks for cover)

16. Some of the biggest babies
I've ever met were "bully breed" dogs.

Now, I will agree with the level of damage they're capable of inflicting, but my pom is far more likely to bite than any but the most aggressive of the larger ones.

8. I have a pit mix.....Lab, Sharpee
and he is the kindest...laziest most playful dog you will ever know..He is special needs we adopted him from a vet who put $1500.00 of surgery into his broken hip. When he came into the vet with the injury he was wagging his tail...the vet said he had to save him because he had a good spirit.

But I never, ever, leave him alone with kids...he is made to sit and I request that the parents have their children ask permission to pet him. He has been socialized since a very young age with other dogs...so he has social play time with many different dogs...Usually he greets all of the dogs and is excited but looses interest and sits by the bridge to see who else is coming...

It is the owners responsibility to train their dogs and to keep the dogs out of situations that could harm them or dogs/children etc. And these dogs MUST be exercised these owners get these dogs with high energy and do nothing to direct the dogs energy into something positive. If they don't have time for their dogs they shouldn't get them.

The media never reports how small dogs, pure labs etc have many, many dog bites and attacks. Each case needs to be handled individually.

Pit and Australian cattle dog. A sweetie. She definitely does not fit the mold and it's because she is loved and has been taught manners.

BAD OWNERS SHOULD BE BANNED.
