1. Who remembers Dennis Weaver in the movie "Duel"? You know,
the one where a faceless truck terrorizes him in somewhere in the Southwest? Scary! The ending, which I will not give away, is exactly how I think I would react under the circumstances.

5. I saw that movie. It was a scary one.
And I believe it's one of Speilberg's first movies that he produced.

23. It was
a made for TV movie and it was the FIRST movie Spielberg directed.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000229/

Weaver was about the only actor in it, and he was pretty darn good as the beleaguered everyman confronted by an overwhelming force.

9. oh, I remember--all the more so because nearly the exact same thing
happened to me--driving from el paso to tucson right after I saw it-- had a trucker doing his best to try to either run me off the road or kill me--after that, I was never without the CB in my car.

It just wasn't the same when he left the show and they got Festus instead.

3. I was wondering who the third would be
First Don Knotts and Darrin McGavin, and now Dennis Weaver. The cycle is complete.

6. So if a celebrity dies tomorrow
that won't count as number four, it's just number one in a new cycle.

Okay, I get it now.

That must MEAN something!

I'll have to re-evaluate my position on the Easter Bunny, the Bible, hairy palms, and the Superman Curse.

:sarcasm:

11. I was counting Curt Gowdy as the first of three
Then Don Knotts and then Darrin McGavin. So is Dennis Weaver the first of a new three or the last of three and Curt Gowdy didn't count cause he's a sports guy?

What do you think?

25. "I'll get him on the grade! I'll get him on the grade!"
'Duel', the first, or one of the first, made-for-TV movies. Small movie - 1 character more or less - a man and his car. Instant classic.

He also had a TV series, McCloud - modern western sherrif if I recall, in a 3-show rotation with McMillan and Wife starring Rock Hudson and one other.
