Can't we just impeach him when he hits 30 percent? |
|
There should be a new law that says we can.

4. When he gets into the 20s, maybe the "good Thugs" will talk to him |
|
the way they did to Nixxxxxxon and get him to take a hike back to Crawford. (Yeah, I know, but I can still dream, can't I?)

6. I was just going to say that we need an Amendment ... |
|
... whereby a sitting president who hits 25% is automatically out.
But then I realized that the Repubs would only go along with that if Diebold handled the polling!

7. That's the problem -- which poll do you trust? |
|
We can't even trust election results anymore ...

9. I always rely on word-of-mouth ... |
|
... as the best gauge of public sentiment. When you see the postings here (and on other sites) about 'my Bush-loving parents have had it', or 'my lock-stepping Repug co-workers are talking about voting Dem in the next election', that's the REAL public speaking and not a survey that can be manipulated.
It may be anecdotal evidence, but it rings truer than any polling company out there.

11. VNS used to be reliable ... until Idiot Son started running |

Did they do only exit polling or did they poll at any other time?

10. Well, when election results are in question... |
|
it's ALWAYS one particular party that the questionable results favor... and it's not our party. Granted, though, polls are more easily biased in either direction.

8. Ought to be an Automatic Impeachment/General Election |
|
at 33.333% or some such... wherein either the previous second place presidential candidate (and vice-president) are immediately placed in office--or--a fast-track emergency General Election is called for (and each party would naturally have their favorite Presidential candidate selected in advance for just such an eventuality). Or, any of a thousand other potential solutions.
Indeed, the citizens of America should be able to call for a vote of confidence in the current government and thereby require a replacement be installed... Sure, that'd be a change to the Constitution and the specifics would have to be worked out requiring some careful thought/research on the part of a variety of experts. Of course, too, we're not a parliamentary government like those that have such a mechanism, but there's no reason we couldn't have something similar.
Why stop there? Why is there no way for citizens to call for a referendum on anything the government does? Say the government decides to invade IRAQ... the people, if sufficiently concerned (as deteremined by an advanced internet based voting system that has somehow been worked out to be secure), say two-thirds requesting a referendum... so the issue is presented to the people and a month later a General Election/Vote is taken... with a super-majority (2/3rds or 3/5ths or...), the action, legislation or decision (of any of the three branches--excepting where the people's choice is clearly unconstitutional--in which case they would have to go through the process of amending it) would then be revoked (and possibly at the same time the alternatives could be chosen). Wow, real power to the people? Scary thought--but should we not, in a modern, educated society... be able to truly control our government--especially when our elected "REPRESENTATIVES" fail to actually represent our wishes (which is more the rule than the exception anymore).
