1. Back at ya Brotherjohn |

The weather today is incredibly beautiful but I'm staying away until the French Quarter Fest in April. The parades this year have certainly brought out boo-dro's creative juices. Heckuvajobbrownie troop with merit badges for alcohol abuse and mold remediation. What's in your fridge? Costumes made of MRE packaging - "Lunch is on us." Fridge over troubled water. Attention K-Mart looters. And on and on. The locals certainly needed the time out.

5. He is my ex-boyfriend. We lived in NOLA for 4 years I guess. |
|
He is still there. He lives in the Bywater on Desire so he didn't have any damage or flooding. THANK GOD!

6. My Mom used to play piano in a bar in the Faubourg Marigny. |

Probably a few blocks from there (Feelings Cafe).
I also knew a number of more "alternative" musicians who lived in or frequented that area.
I guess there are a lot of "Brother John"s in and around N.O. (thanks to the Neville Brothers' classic song). I came by the name hosting a local/regiaonal music radio show in Baton Rouge for a couple of years in the early '90s (then a zine). I probably would have crossed paths more with the arts & music crowd in the Marigny and Bywater areas if I had actually been in N.O. at the time. Wasn't much going on in B.R. at the time, but the Marigny was undergoing a real rennaissance.
