How safe, smart, or wise is it for Bush to visit Pakistan?
A US diplomat is blown up by a carbomb in Karachi and his body lands on the second floor of the consulate without a head. As of last notice, he has not been identified. Bush's visit is liable to have the same effect as the cartoon about Allah. Why does he still insist on going to Pakistan? Does he want to show how "macho" he is? Knowing his history, he is not likely to go anywhere where his safety is not guaranteed. But, what will be left when he leaves? Another disaster?

3. A perfect opportunity for a false-flag op.
I could script the rest of this decade but then I would get censored from DU.

4. All part of the plan. Cheney is getting nervous and needs a reason
for Martial Law so he can fire all the prosecutors. Or was he gonna fire ON all the prosecutors?

5. Security is so tight and expansive there is no possibility...
of Bush being in harms way. I doubt if anyone can get within miles of where he is.

6. He's got 5000 security personnel with him
This has been planned so far in advance that entire floors of hotels have been gutted and renovated to accommodate the visit. Bush will have three rings of security, and won't get out of the armored vehicles anywhere that hasn't been swept clean of unauthorized people many days in advance. He might be safer than he would be back home.

Although, I have to say, looking at the size of the protest in India, I wonder what would happen if they all decided to rush the security perimeter? Has any mass protest turned ugly like that over there?

8. You'd get a massacre.
Those hordes of humanity in India? If they charge the perimeter, Bush is going to have his security guards fire on them. And when the front ranks get butchered, the people will in all probability break and flee-and Bush being Bush, he'd probably tell his guards to shoot people in the back as they run.

9. It is not safe, smart or wise for any one to visit Pakistan.
I have been there years ago and had the opportunity to return on a business venture in the early nineties. Management at the large US Corporation where I was employed approached me about a possible project in Karachi and I told them I serious reservations about our ability to staff and maintain a project such as the one they envisioned there. When they asked me why, I in turn inquired if they had visited Pakistan and found they had not.

They went to Karachi to meet with their Pakistani counterparts and discuss the situation. They were taken to a hotel for foreigners and housed on a special floor for Americans. Security on the floor was provided by men armed with machine guns and gunfire was heard outside through out the night. They returned sans contract and uninterested in pursuing the matter further.
