10. No shit, sister.
But that's DU for you. Today we love Tweety; tomorrow we hate him. Today, Mary Landrieu ought to run for veep; tomorrow she's a "cunt." (Yes, a DUer called her that, and got away with it.) Today we think Keith Olberman is the equivalent of Edward R. Murrow; tomorrow Keith's a wimpy suck up.

It never ends--it's never static at DU. Some people here tend toward fickleness.

13. All valid, Maddy, but I was talking about the 'spin' Brown has
been doing all day. Before you know it, NO ONE will be at fault, and that's a crock we all can relate to.

18. Yes, I know.
I'm just fed up reading DUers actually rah-rahing Michael Brown. Sickening.

when they are eating each other. That's the satisfying part of it.

2. Well, still an unqualified goober who was in over his head
But it's a bit redundant to go after him for that, when you consider the people who put him there should've known better

21. I think I know how this one will work
What you do is hire Heckuva Job Brownie and Associates. They come in and give you a lot of advice. From this you know at once exactly what NOT to do.

He was an unqualified disaster. But, blame also lays with the guys who gave him the job.

6. He's no ally of mine.
Not then, not now. not ever. And I'm sure that the families of the 1000s of dead Katrina victims would agree with me.

5. It pisses me off that DUers are cheerin' him on now.
He accepted an appointment for which he KNEW he was woefully unqualified. He played the game, until he became the scapegoat. And now, out of anger at Bush, he's become "Bush's greatest critic," and DUers are fawning all over him.

FUCK him. Nothing he will ever say or do will change his responsibility during Katrina.

9. Of course not!
He is as guilty as the rest. However, it can only be good for him and anyone else Bush has thrown under the bus to drag Bush down with them. Hell, I'll root for the bad guy any day under those circumstances.

15. Me too, Maddy
Have people developed memory blocks about the many people who drowned, died of dehydration, starvation, and were forced to exist under deplorable conditions while he was head of FEMA? :grr:

19. Yes, while that son of a bitch pondered which shirt to wear and where he'd
eat "mexican" and drink a margarita.

He can spin all he wants. I'll never forget his behavior during the event that had such an imact on my life, and the lives of many Mississippians and Louisianians.

23. It blows my mind too
The guy is an unmitigated failure and blame passer. He is/was utterly unqualified and did nothing for days while 15,000 people were dying of thirst and hunger at the convention center. Then pretended he didn't know about it while it was on the NEWS

8. I think it's a good thing
He was woefully under-qualified, it's true. However, he has offered up more evidence of trying to get help for our Katrina victims than Bush has offered up to show how he and his cronies tried to do the same. And now the video.

Brown can only further make W look like a pompous assed liar. That is good.

11. A respectable human being would express at least some regret for
that his actions resulted in loss of life. An apology is not good enough. He's on this publicity tour for his own benefit and gain. I'm not going to cut the guy any slack, the disaster was as much his fault as it was Bush's.

Or is he a hero? Or a dickwad? I can't remember what he is today.

:eyes:

I'm with you, tridim. He's a snake with the blood of thousands of people on his hands. (Just becuase there's blood on other people's hands doesn't change the fact that there's STILL BLOOD ON HIS FUCKING HANDS.) I don't applaud him. No way.

12. He has to own his incompetence.
He was completely unqualified to do this job. He had no power to even make FEMA work if he had the ability. But, Bush and Chertoff set out to make him the scapegoat. Apparently, no matter how incompetent, it seems like Brown was not as big an a-hole that he was made out to be.

Wasn't there an email exchange not too long ago between him and a FEMA official (Who was stuck in the dome) showing that Brownie really didn't give a shit?

25. The negatives about Brownie are correct.
He did bring up an important point. FEMA was being nuetered and underfunded and forced to co-mingle with Homeland Security. That was part of the problem and still is. Chertoff should have been fired and still should be. The Bush Regime is ulitmately accountable for their inactions. Focusing on Brownie is a mistake. The focus should be on the Bush Regime.

26. yes that is a valid and important point, that being said you know what
really makes me so angry about him? If no one was listening to him and he knew people were going to die why in the hell didn't he go running to the media? He would have been on the the 24 hour news loop constantly but he didn't. The only time bushco does anything to help anybody besides his rich Friends is when it gets on the media and people get outraged. this tells me that since Brown didn't he is now only trying to cover his own ass.
