Protestors Anti-American or Anti-Bush? |
|
Watching Today Show today noticed that protestors in India always called Anti-American by the reporters (in this case the reporter is Kelly O'Donnell and anchor is Katie Couric - both using that verbage). Can't they just be Anti-Bush but not Anti-American?

Whenever anybody critizes Bush it's like "oh so you hate America!" :eyes: It's pure manipulation.

6. NPR: Neocon Propaganda Radio |
|
Morning Edition even went further than that this morning.
Here is my email to NPR Omsbudsman from this morning:
I wrote yesterday because Steve Inskeep referred to the anti-Bush demonstrations in India as “anti American” demonstrations. They were most definitely anti-Bush, not “anti-American”. Today morning edition was even worse. This morning the protests were again referred to as "anti-American". It was also mentioned that pictures of Osama Bin Laden were being displayed by protestors. While technically true, this is extremely misleading. Of the many photos of the protests I have seen, the only time photos of Bin Laden appear is side by side with Bush and Blair on the same banner with the slogan “global terrorists”. Your misrepresentation in this regard is truly sickening. I will not be donating to NPR any more, but I guess it doesn’t matter to you since NPR is getting funding from the corporate interests who want to keep republicans in power.

8. I would say it is Bush and their leader who went with Bush |
|
He was a bad one to suck up to and each country leader who did is paying for it. Bush seems to be like a snail. He leaves slime every place he goes. I do not recall a President that has made such a mess. The world seems to like to be like Am. or how they live. They are not so happy with things we always do in our gov.

10. Bush represents America to them |
|
So they are anti-American by virtue of their hatred of George Bush. I think they know that he is not a popular President, and that he does not represent the majority of Americans. He never did and he never will.
I think they also know that there's a mandate from the people to remove him, but with the Republican majority in control, they know it will be difficult to do at this time. I think the people there know that there's a fight for democracy going on in our land right now, and I believe they understand Bush is not representative of all Americans.
They also understand corruption and lying on the part of government, so I really feel their protests are directed at the man, not the nation.

14. I agree with what you say except this: |
|
Bush represents America to them so they are anti-American by virtue of their hatred of George Bush. Is this what you think or your description of faulty reasoning? To me America does not equal Bush and never will.

11. it's part of the plan |
|
when protestors in other countries are called anti-american, you don't have to label the ones at home that. the viewer will identify the protestors here with the "anti-american" protestors elsewhere.
it's all so subtle.
