folks who support bush even now are probably beyond reaching |
|
if even now you say that bush is the greatest president who ever took a step, you wouldn't be convinced ever, ever, ever. one has to snap out of this particular hypnosis on their own, and many are.

I talked to a freeper yesterday who has drank the kool-aid several times and still won't admit that shrub has been a disaster.
They have already started on potential candidates for 2008 with their rumor and innuendo gossip.

Support for Bush at this point in time constitutes a character flaw.

Even after he's impeached/indicted/charged they will STILL be saying what a great president he was. (We'll probably never here the end of it for a long time as well)

My old high school friend whom is my boss (it's just he and I that work together in construction) have daily political debates. Hopefully I am slowly enlightening him but it is not looking to promising,,,like talking to a brick wall. His normal stance is that "everything is just fine" and "had we not taken the stance that we have (militarily in Iraq) we would be speaking Arabic right now" He doesn't believe in global warming. He takes the typical "I'm so sick of the welfare system suckers" and believes in the trickle down economic theory. Stated to me once that he likes keeping employees just on virge of the needed pay scale so they have to show up, i.e. keep them in need. He takes pretty good care of me though, just the two of us now so I personally can't complain & we are old freinds. I told him that is typical "Cheap labor conservative idealogy" I am continually having to rebut his stances on the issues. He knows I'm a MIHOP guy so he knows how deep my beliefs are. He doesn't see a problem with the spying. Fortunately I am able to e-mail him the latest Democratic updates on the issues and he enjoys the debate, thinks of it as "entertainment" Lately though, it's been tough because I've been too pissed off about the issues that I can't even debate them with him. Sometimes I have to cut it off because I know he and I will never agree and it's almost a waste of energy and I end up with a headache in my frustration.
The demography of the State where I live, yes OK (50 -60% Repug when you include the fraud allegations) it is no surprise how many are really voting AND thinking with their wallet ( Oil & Gas industry, Tinker AFB, Ft. Sill, military & Defense) rather than their conscience. Throw in the hardcore fundamentalists and the rednecks and it is easy to see why this is a red state. Many are just apathetic or under informed and follow the crowd as well.
I am really pissed how this mis-administration has caused this divide.

7. It all comes down to money, doesn't it? |
|
If bush were to seize property such as land and homes from the lower class, then sell it to investor groups and divide the profits amongst the wealthy, people such as your friend would have no problem with that, would they? I'm sure they could justify it somehow, as in "Well, they're better off because they aren't paying property taxes now."
To a Repub, it all depends on whose ox is getting gored. When you're in an ivory tower, looking down at the others less fortunate, hell, they're just ants anyway. Go ahead and step on them.
