Bill Clinton lied about an affair and was impeached . . . |
|
Edited on Mon Mar-06-06 02:26 AM by OneBlueSky
(though NOT convicted and removed from office, we should recall) . . .
Goerge Bush has lied about 9/11, the Iraq war, WMDs, depleted uranium weapons, torture and "rendition", detention camps, domestic spying, the Plame affair, the economy, Social Security, Medicare, Katrina, his drinking, and probably a thousand other things . . . much of it fully documented . . .
and no one -- NO ONE -- in Congress is calling for his impeachment except John Conyers . . . (who, to be fair, is only calling for an investigation into whether impeachable offenses might have occurred) . . .
what's wrong with this picture? . . .

4. Just the Plame lies are impeachable if the same standards are applied. |

Bush willfully obstructed justice by telling Fitzgerald and his investigators he was not aware of the identity of the leaker.
Surprise! Later we find out he was aware of Rove's involvement. After the usual one day of news rotation the story died.
No Clinton style follow-up's. No media outrage. No Congressional hearing.
In case anybody was dense enough to miss it when it happened we can say once and for all that the Clinton impeachment was pure partisan politics.

...there are now 27 Democrats who are co-sponsors of Mr. Conyers' bill to start an impeachment inquiry. It's nowhere near enough, and the fact that we don't have every single Democratic representative behind this bill is an outrage, but at least Conyers' call for impeachment is slowly growing.
