9. cave in or beat them at their own game? |
|
the rw's would have used it to beat the 2006 election back again on the gay bullshit issues using fear like they did before.
Both get acclaim this way. Both chase and brokeback speak to valid issues confronting americans today.....IMHO

The right is trying to make the Oscars us against them. It's an awards show. If they want to make political statements, fine. If they don't fine. Who cares? Did I mention Jessica Alba had her hair up? Let the right cheer on garbage like Terminator movies, while pining for Ernest to return from the dead so he can make another movie.
I'm not going there.

8. Yeah, picking a sensational movie that dealt in an intelligent |
|
way with race relations in 21st century America. People are reacting like they gave the award to Red Dawn (does anyone remember that movie from the 80s?).
The Academy gave the award to a liberal movie that covered racism instead of a liberal movie that covered homophobia. What a tragedy for the country. Good thing they didn't give the award to that liberal movie that covered freedom of speech. People at DU would really have gone ballistic.

11. Brokeback was sort of "inde" and Crash not so. After the success of |
|
Brokeback, the producers of Crash spent beaucoup de bucks "lobbying" the film. As we all know, the BEST film doesn't always win but the best sales pitch can.
