MTV is promoting their alternative Spring Break. For anyone who is not aware of what this is it seems that MTV is push kids to give up their drinking and parting for one year and try to do something good with their spring break. It seems that one of the things they are pushing is for kids to go to the Gulf Coast in order to rebuild the Gulf Coast. Does anyone think there is any chance that the Democratic leadership could be convinced to push a Democratic version of an alternative spring break? For instance, encourage young Democrats to spend their spring break doing something good like rebuilding the Gulf Coast or maybe building house or something like that.

1. I've been trying to get the party to do something like that since |
|
the storm.
I can't seem to get anyone interested, especially in the state.
I hope you try and are successful.

6. I'm hanging in there, doing the best I can. |

We figured out why the pace of the South is so slow, it's because of all the reconstruction (floods, tornadoes, Civil War, hurricanes, earthquakes). You can't rush these things, you just got to take it one day at a time and not be stressed to hurry.
Our buddy in Dallas has been such a help, she has helped me save my sanity, that's for sure.
I hope you are doing well and you got over that throat mess you had. :loveya:

2. I know John Edwards was doing something like that |
|
I saw it somewhere on DU. No link, sorry - I'm sure someone who keeps up with Edwards more than I do has one. I know it was something about inviting young people to come with him and build homes in the Gulf over spring break.

4. John Edwards did start a movement last week. Seems he got a |
|
heckuva response; here's an e-mail I got today.
Dear xxxxx
Last week, I asked you to help support hundreds of students who will be joining me in Louisiana this month to help clean up the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina.
I am truly overwhelmed by the tremendous response. Our on-line community generously gave tens of thousands of dollars to this cause. These contributions will help defray the cost of meals, housing, supplies and local transportation, so we can make sure hundreds of students can help rebuild the Gulf Coast.
America's young people are ready to step up and do the hardest work. All across the country, students are eager to get to Louisiana to start rebuilding the Gulf Coast, home by home, brick by brick. I know they will change lives when they go to the Gulf Coast, including their own.
Thank you, once again, for your enormous generosity. With your support, we can make a real difference in the lives of the residents of the Gulf Coast - and in the lives of America's young people.
Your friend,
John
P.S. If you haven't had the chance yet to sponsor a student to travel to the Gulf Coast, there is still time. Click here to make a donation.

9. Isn't MTV being just a tad hypocritical |
|
with all their spring break house parties in the past, complete with wet t-shirt, etc.?
How politically correct of them.
