Scientology Finds Group Suppport In AZ Legislature
The goal is to control mental health legislation. Would it surprise you to know only one of the 14 legislators is a Democrat - Albert Hale - a Navajo from Window Rock. That surprised me!!!

It is so f---ing comforting to know John Travolta has a handle on Arizona politics.

3. One would think that a 'print journalist'
would provide a link... a source... or at least explain what this is supposed to be about. ????

6. I know exactly how you feel. I've often described Arizona as "a land
Edited on Sat Mar-11-06 02:09 PM by greyhound1966
of incredible beauty inhabited by pasty faced, mouth breathing, knuckle draggers". You have to live here for awhile to really understand it. I'm sorry you learned this first hand.
I'm working to get out of this shit-hole as hard as I can. Unfortunately it is like a black hole, easy to get in, almost impossible to get out. Mostly due to the substandard wages paid here.

I just noticed your avatar, it's cool. A Buckyball?

9. Yes, a buckyball...
I agree about the wages problem. I'm a teacher and want to move to either Seattle (where I grew up) or Anchorage (where my sister and her family live). But I can't afford housing in either of those cities. I can barely afford what I have now -- a very modest home. So in some ways I feel trapped here.

10. That's how it works here. You never make enough to get ahead
and put together moving money, plus when you do try, you find out how coming from a fascist backwater like this prejudices people in civilized areas against you. The assumption is that since you're from here, you must be 'one of them' and nobody want 'one of them' in their company. Would you?
At least you come from a good palce and, I assume, have some relatives/contacts to ease the transition. Good luck to you.

We're shooting for Portland ourselves.

12. hi greyhound. actually we have a very good income. when my
husband transferred here it was on new york salary. we're trapped by the beauty. we love the desert and the wildlife. of course, when summer comes i start asking myself "what the f--- are you doing here in this big convection oven"? the heat doesn't bother my husband but we're hoping that maybe in a few years we can get a small place in the high country for the summer. can't do it now because our cats would be traumatized by any kind of move. have also considered a condo in san diego to live in the summer, but the prices are way too high for the amount of square footage.:hi:

14. Glad to hear it. Don't ever let him quit. It is exceedingly rare for
people to come out here and keep the real salary they had before. So if he does burn out or whatever make sure he hold on long enough to get out first.

7. snipped...
State lobbying records show that the commission has spent thousands of dollars on Hollywood trips for Arizona lawmakers. Over the past two years, legislators have attended celebrity-studded award ceremonies, an anniversary gala at the Celebrity Center church and the grand opening of the commission's museum, Psychiatry: An Industry of Death. Legislators met John Travolta and other high-profile guests and learned more about the church's campaigns and programs.

In materials distributed to state lawmakers, the group lays out what it believes are the horrors of modern society, from violent crimes and broken families to illiteracy and child suicides. And it offers a simple explanation: psychiatry.

Supporters say the commission is raising important concerns about the effects of psychiatric drugs, especially the widespread use of mood-altering prescriptions among children.
