From http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1172179,00.htmlThe Mission: Find a Way to Stay RelevantI can't reconcile the gall it takes to carry out a staged photo like this amidst the Katrina aftermath rebuild. It wouldn't surprise me if spychimp nailed in 2 then took off for a rib dinner. Speechless.

You put several so you can get to them easily - if you just have one, you hold it in your other hand and nail the damn thing in. As someone who has never worked in his life, * just knows that you look like you're working hard when you do that.

Look at the deep concentration on his face, the way he is holding the hammer, the size of the hammer, the nail in his mouth and the way the person has to hand him the next nail. I'm a carpenter and this picture is absolutely hilarious !! I doubt they let him swing that hammer, but we should look for bruised fingernails in the near future.

And they had unedited footage of this. It's amazing to watch Dubya in this setting.
He was really into the construction thing. He wanted to climb the ladder. He got a little bored after he hammered in one nail, but he liked socializing with all the other men on ladders -- reaching out to shake the hand of a cameraman, for example.
Now I think he feels he has truly done something for the Katrina victims. He sweated a little, and climbed a ladder. And they were installing some very nice recessed lighting in what was obviously not a 9th Ward home, it was more comparable to Trent Lott's house.
When you see him in action, there is only one conclusion. He is a simpleton, a boy king. Every little thing he does is important, see, even if it is only symbolic, and everyone who is allowed to get near him must reinforce this view of his highness.
It's the disease of privilege, and he's got it bad. Some who are born to privilege manage to escape the disase, but Bush embraces it. He is the poster boy for what the founding fathers wanted to prevent: a bunch of selfish brats who inherited power through wealth running around tyrannizing the rest of the world.

40. I've seen some other candid footage -- he seems obsessed with posing |
|
He takes an artificial photo-op situation, and makes it seem even more contrived. Like at the infamous "plastic turkey" dinner, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation showed him heading for the turkey, picking up the platter (being sure to face the cameras), then plunking it down a few seconds later. It was painfully obvious that he was very proud of himself for making such a pretty picture! And during that trip to India, there was a display of vegetables at a farm -- Bush simply could not resist going over and picking up one of the large tubers ("see how strong I am!").
A still photo or carefully-edited news clip makes it look spontaneous, but as you say, the raw footage shows how trivial and shallow he is.

Bush is the biggest fish there is, and he smells like one rotting in the sun. So we should fry him, although a pan is not the method I have in mind...
His staged response to Katrina is one phony photo-op after another, and deserves to be mocked for what it is. A DISGRACE.
And the fact that a pro-business, pro-GOP rag like Time magazine mocks Bush, is all the more reason the OP is relevant.
"Always Proud of America", indeed. Hope you're proud of your Bold and Fearless Leader and his raping of our civil liberties. :hurts:

|
reminds me of what Letterman said when he saw Bush hammering a nail. He said Bush "hammers like a little girl". Then he had somebody bring out some boards, hammer and nails, and pounded a couple nails in.
It is good to see, though, that they wisely do not trust Bush with an air hammer.

What a phony ass. Let's face it, who would let Bush work on a house they wanted to live in? You have to build to code in most areas. Nothing Bush nailed up would be safe. Good grief.
Give him a toolbelt and he thinks he's a man. Let him ride a bike as fast as he can and he thinks he's an athlete.
Give him a flightsuit and he thinks he's a warrior.
Steal him an office and he thinks he's a leader.
In fact, he's a stupid little monkey trying to fit in his daddy's stinking shoes. UGH.

Where he can actually reach the tools. As someone on this other thread remarked, it looks like Pres. Bush is wearing his belt the wrong way around (with the pouches in back). There's a reason why they make it a quick-release buckle, Dubya! (Or maybe he just felt that he needed to cover his ass, what with the Katrina debacle.) http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=364&topic_id=606922
