Americans that fear terrorists are cowards.
The so-called terrorists in Iraq are piecing together bombs from scarp material. We have the most sophisticated weaponry in the history of man kind and the so-called terrorists are using garage door openers and old artillery shells. I live on the Big Island of Hawaii and there are actually neighbors of mine who think that a little domestic eavesdropping is OK as long as it thwarts terrorists efforts. This is probably one of the most remote places on the planet and yet people around here think that Muslims are going to be creating madrasahs in their backyards and blowing up Wal-Marts. How pathetic. These people don't deserve their liberty. I grew up during the Cold War with the eminent threat of nuclear holocaust looming on the horizon every single day. That was a real threat. Multiple atomic warheads raining down on you from the sky with little warning, vaporizing you and your loved ones. I am not afraid of a few people with box cutters taking over planes. Should another 9/11 style attack occur, I still won't be afraid. Should the "terrorists" start blowing up more buildings in major American cities, I still won't be afraid. American citizens who are afraid of terrorists and use the terrorist threat as an excuse to promote their own agenda are cowards. George W. Bush is a coward.

7. Live Free or Die
Is the official motto for the state of New Hampshire. The phrase comes from General John Stark, New
Hampshire's most famous soldier of the American Revolutionary War.

The whole quote is: "Live Free or Die;Death is not the worst of evils"

5. oh. my. gawd!
But I'm addicted to fear! What if the terrorists DON'T blow up my strip mall shoe store? What'll I do, wheah-evah shall I go?

(flaps arms, shits self, runs in circle)

These people really are addicted to fear. That's the entire range of their emotional response to life: fear, and anger.

It's their endless little white line, delivered daily from their adrenaline glands, no straw required.

6. It's called "Chicken Little Syndrome"
You can't worry about what's going to happen, if you ride in a car and get out in the world, there is always a chance of an accident before a terrorist attack, and that does not stop anyone from driving...

Me? I bicycle to work everyday. I KNOW about fear.

More bicyclists are killed every year in this country by lousy drivers than US citizens have been killed by all the terrorists in all our history.

But I still ride.

So is my comment a little flippant? Maybe. But that's how seriously I take the threat of terrorists.

9. children fear
many Americans are not mature enough to work this all out like you have. Maybe they don't deserve their liberty, maybe they are shirking their responsibility. But, folks do fear.

The campaign of fear waged from the White House is despicable. They recognized that Americans could be whipped up right after 9-11 and they lied their way into Iraq and into our personal lives with appeals to our fears. Folks fear, there are countless reasons for Americans to feel insecure. Perhaps in their personal lives they've been abused or suffered some trauma that makes them succeptible to fear. The stress of having Bush with his hands on our security is enough on its own to cause stress.

I don't fear terrorists personally. I suspect most folks are smart enough to know the odds against their becoming a victim of a terrorist attack. But, there are fears. Fears for our country, fears for our democracy, and also, fears for the security of the nation as Bush continues to create more enemies than he can knock down with his scattershot approach to his terrorist 'hunt'. All of that doesn't mean that I will be motivated to ridiculous actions or support Bush's stupidity. Many do, but, they should be judged for how they act, not how they feel.

I just don't think you or anyone else is right or correct in labeling me or anyone else a coward just because they fear future actions by terrorists. Fear for personal safety is not necessary or even appropriate to the circumstances of any threat to the U.S., but folks do fear. They have a right to their feelings. They can act as responsibly as anyone else and still fear inside. Fear can motivate. Fear alerts us to act.

Fear doesn't necessarily have to motivate us to stupidity.

10. I agree!
We can't send our troops to fight and die for freedom without being willing to do the same ourselves. I will take the risk of death here to live free than give up any of my freedoms to grasp at some false sense of safety.

12. This is a message we need to get out to the people.
What we should do is produce a commercial with this message and get it on the air, so that the American people (who fear terrorists) know what we think of them.

I mean, there's no way that could back fire, right?
