3. They're planning a major offensive in Afghanistan, too |
|
Heard it on CSPAN (late) last night with one of the hearings they were re-airing. Massive offensive aimed at stamping out the opium fields.

11. Yep! I was shocked they had that on open hearings |
|
Wish I could remember which hearing/committee it was...it was just before I went off to bed. Biden was one of the questioners, Lugar was there too. ...found the hearing announcement from previous day's schedule. http://inside.c-spanarchives.org:8080/cspan/cspan.csp?command=dprogram&record=194331193

6. someone's anticipating "Last call!" |

Soon the lights will come up, and the beer-goggles will be shed in our Capitol, to the shame and astonishment of all. Oh, that is if Cheney doesn't declare martial law first....
I bet that Dick and Rummy are just tingling, getting to re-play Vietnam again.

9. I worry when Bush's numbers are falling. I don't know whether |

to expect a terrorist attack or a new attack on a country that is perceived to be a danger to the U.S. They are low enough at this point that we might expect either or both. Another terrorist attack would certainly convince some people that we need to go bomb the hell out of another country.

12. I don't even recognize this country..... |
|
anymore. Where is the outrage? Where is the outcry from the parents of the maimed and murdered children coming back from this fiasco? Why is the UN silent? Why are the college students across campuses in this country silent? Where is this generation's Walter Cronkite? Hell, I rarely even see a bumper sticker against this war. Has everybody become complacent or are they really this afraid of this admin? I don't get it, I really don't.

15. It truly is a nightmare, and there is something terribly wrong here |
|
You know the feeling of trying to run in a bad dream and you can't move? That's what its like to me, now. No one can organize or reach the complacent right or do anything to stop the outrages piling up. It just gets worse. There are no longer any setbacks, let alone defeats, for the coup against America.

16. It took a while to hypnotize so many |
|
They are slowly waking from their slumber of stupor and smelling the rotten coffee.
I don't feel morose about things; I am concerned because so many Americans are so pissed and their government is effectively ignoring the rage.
All it will take is ** & Co. declaring war on Iran, or instating a draft, or any other slap in the face of the already-pissed-off. If they just make that one miscalculated move, I fear Americans will have a mess on their hands.
As it is, expect medical costs and a declining housing market to bring even more people into the light. Keep talking about these issues with people you meet and those you know and you will have more reason to hope.
