In case you missed it - Cervical Cancer Cure BushCo won't let you have!!! |
|
Trying hard to keep this alive! :applause: Thousands of lives could be saved every year but the Family Research Council & BushCo refuse to let us have it. And they call themselves "Pro-Life" - Ha! http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=675198&mesg_id=675198

2. Healthy cervix = SEX! SIN!.. Seriously, this story has been too low on |
|
the media radar (if at all). It's RW/Fundies at their absolute worst.

it's not a cure, per se, it's a preventative.

it isn't a cure. if you already have HPV, this won't help at all. It's a vaccine to prevent infection with certain strands of HPV that have been shown to contribute, when left untreated, to higher levels of cervical cancer.
quitting smoking isn't a cure for cancer, it's a way to significantly decrease your risk of cancer.

7. OK, I see your point but |
|
would you want your daughter to have free access to this "preventative" or have the religious right decide what's best for her?

8. hey, words matter, that's my point |

and of course such a vaccine should be avaliable, given the prevalence of HPV, I'd make it a default, where people could opt out, if they so chose, instead of an opt-in.
