It's November 2006. How are you feeling? |
|
Edited on Fri Mar-17-06 06:32 PM by MyPetRock
Even if the polls show we have more than our current 14 point lead, I'm gonna be :scared:. I don't know how the black box manipulators will deal with the polls and (what would be) wildly discrepant results, but I fear they will rig the vote blatantly if necessary. HOPE TO GOD I'M WRONG and/or THAT THEY CAN'T GET AWAY WITH IT IF THEY TRY.
I just know I'll be shaking like a leaf election night. So much is riding on this. Yeah, we've said it all before over the last 5 horrible years, but we've never been so far ahead, and the Pukes have never been in such disarray.

2. Absolutely--we gotta be well outside the margin of error, and I think |
|
we can do that. We need to do a couple of things to ensure this, though--we gotta register people, and get out the vote.
Start thinking about those folks, the aged, the disabled, who might need help getting to the polls. Even small contributions, like giving rides to these folks, help.

5. Exactly how will that stop them from rigging the machines? |
|
I've never understood this. Will they just not dare to do it, or is there something in the software that prevents rigging from happening if one candidate is "x" amount ahead?

6. Absentee Ballots All Around. |
|
It's the only thing they still can't quite monkey with enough to swing an election.

8. I hope so. But I've heard they put the absentee ballots through the bbv |

machines. Granted, I heard this from Bev. I have been promoting absentee ballots from the beginning, until I heard this from her.

So we have to pull out twelve. What a day in America. Criminals everywhere. Except here.

7. Same way I feel today... Another two years gone, another one stolen... |
|
I hate to break it to people but we don't have the power to elect anymore. That's been taken away from us. And Democrats refuse to fight for it, so I'm feeling like another charade has come and gone, with the likes of Katherine Harris and other Republicans stealing as many seats as they can get their blood stained hands on...

I want to feel hopeful but after 5 years of BushCo and seeing the GOP repeatedly snatch victory from us it's hard not to be wary.
We shall see.

January 6, 2005. Did you see the way the repukes acted? They know we're on to them. I don't think they'd be that stupid. They definitely wouldn't try it again if the fraud is exposed before then. Then everybody would know that they've been cheating.

20. Nah....they're supremely |
|
arrogant and will think it's possible again. After all there are still NO good mechanisms for exposing election fraud. Recounts are a joke. The Repugs know the whole system is easily exploitable and they can steal any election without serious repercussions. The loyalists will be even MORE motivated to win every race they can for the home team as Bush's popularity plummets.
I don't think they've learned a thing.

One of them said something along the lines of "the majority we've worked so hard for is threatened" or something like that. Maybe they have learned. You never know.

Sure, they are very afraid they might lose...all the more reason to go for broke. People who have no integrity or morals do not suddenly acquire perception. Cheaters don't wake up one day and Get Real-- from Jack Abramoff right on down to Jesse Helm's protegee, Claude Allen the Target swindler. They ONLY stop when they are caught. This kind of arrogance prevents logic. They WILL attempt to steal the election again to prove that they can control the outcome. They'll still be working on how to do this in future, even if they lose the actual election.
The LAST thing election watchers on our side should do is get comfortable and think it won't happen again. Vigilance is needed more than ever. There are no effective controls on election manipulators in our dysfunctional system--the only thing that would bother Repuglican manipulators would be excess publicity.

not only is it the election, but Nov 24 is an important day in the Mayan Calendar-one that brings light and great change. I'm getting ready for whatever happens, though I hope what does occur is a route for the GOP on election day and moves for impeachment launched soon after.

21. I will be tired from my day working at the polls. I will be elated |
|
because our candidates have done well, the water initiative will have passed, and the Democrats have picked up a lot of seats in the state legislature, Ann Northrup will be sitting in a quiet room watching her Democratic opponent celebrating victory. I will be happy because my candidate in the 88th will be taking over for a very rigid, corrupt republican.

He made it sound that-due to redistricting-their are so few seats up for grabs in November that for the Dems to win back a majority they would have to win all of them. Is that true? Are we being led down ANOTHER "if we just win the next election-all will be okay, folks", folly? Instead-I think we need people in the streets everyday causing a ruckus. I think Democracy is dead. Yes, causing a scene gets you mocked-Cindy Sheehan is so unseemly-and so is Senator Fiengold-but it gets your agenda talked about at least. It changes the debate. Playing into the voting is all we have sems like wasted energy to me. I have zero faith in the Dems we have. (maybe there are some better new ones-Lamont running against Lieberman though without millions of dollars nothing can happen I've been told-a la Hackett-so sruprising that saying stop the war doesn't fill the cofers-I guess it gets GE off your donor card) but is this just more false hope? Can you really fight the level of corruption and fascism we have with voting?

27. Without the rigged votes, the Dems would prevail by a landslide. |
|
That is obvious. If we can police enough precincts, the wide majority may well overcome the rigged machines and other ploys. Don't forget that the polling places are still run by local citizens, many of which are Democrats or honest.
