Sherrod Brown staying off message.
Edited on Mon Mar-20-06 02:01 PM by BuyingThyme
I knew the garbage about Sherrod Brown being more progressive than Paul Hackett was pure bullshit, and he proved it again this weekend.

In an AAR interview, he conspicuously crapped on the important issue of censure (not a supporter; doesn't think it's appropriate), and, like a robot, reflected right to his more-pressing, pre-packaged and rehearsed DLC talking points.

Sherrod Brown is a shill for the money people, a DINO in the making.

Paul Hackett was the progressive. Paul Hackett was the one who was going to bring the Dems back to life. Paul Hackett was the one who was going to stand up for law and order, and against corruption. Paul Hackett was the one who was going to speak for the people who can no longer speak for themselves. Paul Hackett was the one who was going to stand up to the status quo.

Get over it? No, not until I again say, fuck you, Schumer.

12. Sherrod brown is in favor of allowing a Chimp to spy on Americans
during fake war time.

There has never been a more anti-progressive candidate. You insult Mr. Kucinich.

2. Call Chuck up and tell him what you think:
Washington: 202-224-6542
New York City: 212-486-4430
Albany: 518-431-4070
Buffalo: 716-846-4111
Binghamton: 607-772-6792
Hudson Valley: 845-758-9741
Long Island: 631-753-0978
Rochester: 585-263-5866
Syracuse: 315-423-5471

You can send him an email as well: http://schumer.senate.gov/SchumerWebsite/contact/webform.cfm

But I am sure that you will not bother as you would rather promote infighting among the party and continue the tyrannical rule of the bu$h regime.

4. Chuck doesn't seem to do
email. I have never gotten even so much as a canned email from him. I don't know what they do when you call because they never ask if you are a constituent or not, they are fairly polite but not friendly to remarks you make.

13. Your position literally supports tyranny, as does Brown. Look it up.

3. I didn't have a horse in this race, but Hackett sounds like my kind of guy
I saw him on the Daily Show, and he was right on!

8. Since this is Ohio, I don't suppose you needed to have a horse
and the one you chose is no longer in the race

10. sometimes I take an interest in races where I cannot vote.
I would have loved Hackett. Brown is gonna be great. I hope he wins. I hope he isn't another dlc/gop. I am sure that Brown will be much better then his GOP opponent.

14. Now we just need to stop the fighting over Hackett and get Brown elected
Then we can see how good he will do.
I know he has done an outstanding job for the district in Congress

6. Paul Rykoff (sp.?) of IAVA said that at least Hackett was
trying to get the Democratic Party to stake out a policy (other than "stay the course") on Iraq.

I do have mixed feelings about censure before an official non-partisan investigation. The partisan in me is 100% behind Feingold, but the partisan in me is about 45% of me. The other 55% of me sees myself as trying to adhere to a vision of America as, in Lincoln's words, the "last, best hope of mankind." That other 55% thinks that censure is best when the end result (or penultimate result, with impeachment\removal as the end result) of a due process of investigation.

BTW: The partisan 45% of me called Boxer and Feinstein to insisit they support and co-sponsor Feingold's resolution.

7. Yeah, but
the current congress really isn't like you.

You see yourself as being 45% Democratic partisan, and 55% what we might call rationalist.

This congress is like you in that it's 45% Democratic partisan. But it's unlike you in that the other 55% is neo-super-lockstep-Tory-partisan Republican Rovian Bush-can-do-no-wrong wingnut.

Given that, waiting for the investigation is kinda like thinking that you can buy a lottery ticket and retire to Bermuda.

11. Hmm, I see your point. But I guess I was thinking longer-term.
If the Democrats capture one or both houses of Congress in Nov. '06, they will have subpoena power and the power to launch investigations through various committees and sub-committees. If I had to pick between censure now (without a formal investigation) and censure after Jan. 07 (with a formal investigation), I suppose I would choose the latter, even while the 45% partisan in me salivates at the prospect of the former.

16. Yes, the key to fascism is to never look back.
The key to democracy is to always look back.

I understand you may have been raised a different way than I, but I will always know better, and will always speak truth to power.

You will never speak truth to power, because once you get hit in the head, you run away. Oy fucking vey.
