Dems lead on generic congressional ballot 36-31

I wish the rest of the country would start looking at this president the way the East does--wow! less than 1/4 support the chimp.

1. It doesn't make sense.
How could the Chimperor have a higher rating in the midwest than in the south????

If the Dems only lead 36-31 in a congressional ballot, the Repugs will easily maintain control of congress. But, this is Zogby, so I take it with a huge grain of salt.

8. "How could the Chimperor have a higher rating in the midwest...
...than in the south????"

Because all Southerners aren't stupid.

10. But all Midwesterners are?
Just sayin... Though, it should be noted that the South is largely the South East, which includes a lot of minorities and Metropolitan areas.

12. Neither are midwesterners.
It's just that the Chimp was rated much higher in the south than the midwest before now. I can't believe he's at 47% in the midwest. One recent poll showed him UNDER 40% in rock ribbed red state Indiana and pinkish Ohio. If he's that low in Indiana and Ohio, there's no way he's above 40% in the rest of the midwest.

Southerners are catching on in greater numbers, but there is no way he's less popular there than in the midwest.

13. Didn't say they were
But your post seemed to imply Southerners are stupid. I'm glad to see your clarification.

9. More Southerners in the military
and more military bases in the South. I'd say that folks are listening to returning veterans and seeing how poorly they are being taken care of. I participated in the poll and only regretted that they didn't have an adjective worse than "poor" to describe Bush's performance.

3. Here's the scary part
"However, respondents favored Republicans over Democrats when asked which party’s candidates “better represents your values.” Republicans were preferred by 44%, compared to 42% who said the Democrats are closer to their values." Zobgy poll released 3/22/06

6. Of course there's the obligatory question:
Who are the 38% who are insane / stupid / willfully ignorant/ evil?

A lot of them are in my family.

Why do people continue to deny the facts right in front of their faces? I notice that most fundies continue to support him. These are the same people that deny facts in order to support their fantastical world view. I don't think this is a coincidence.

14. Possible midwest explanation
Edited on Wed Mar-22-06 02:20 PM by PBass
The Midwest is considered up-for-grabs so these states may be getting extra attention, as far as pork spending and so on. The South is allegedly all sewn-up for the GOP and may be getting taken for granted more than the Midwest.

When you have federal pork flooding your area, it's harder to be pissed off at the federal government. It's a way of buying votes indirectly.

(Just speculation, I don't have any data on this)
