Out of the mouths of babes... |
|
Driving my three kids to Karate this evening, my 4-year-old son blurted out, "Hey! Did we ever get rid of that bad President Bush we didn't want anymore?!"
My 14-year-old and I just started laughing. We hadn't been talking about Bush, or even politics, recently.
"No, son," I said, "But we're still working on it."
It was really funny, but later, a great sadness overcame me.
I really fear for my children's futures.

"We'll set it straight"
I'm kindly reminded that it takes a village to raise a child. And your message gives me hope that we, the people, will set it straight...that there are folks out there looking out for other folks. Thank you.

9. It was a bittersweet moment. |

Funny on the one hand and just plain sad on the other.
He's such a funny kid that way, always saying stuff out of the blue. And, yes, thanks, he's very sweet (guess every parent can claim this).
I should add, too, that it's not just my own children I'm concerned for. It's all the children-- the future generations-- I worry about.

No Southern speak undertones. And kudos to you for raising your children as aware as they need to be.

11. Thanks for the blessing |

I welcome it.
My kids had a crash course in 'Bush & Co. 101' starting about three years ago. Last year, his favorite chant was, "Bush lied, soldiers died, and you don't care!" He learned it at a anti-Bush rally we had here in NV one of the (many) times Bush/Cheney came here. I guess it's a testament to how many political events we dragged our kids to last year!

I guess my nine-year-old has picked up on quite a bit, too. She drew a cartoon making fun of * and Darth C.

She can discuss issues better than some adults at times. But, you never really know what the little ones are thinking...or even whether they are mature enough to handle some of it.
He told one of his pre-school teachers last year that Bush was a bad man for starting a war. I found out later that she was a major Bush supporter! Hope his words gave her pause, at least.
Be proud of yours too, for her awareness. It's their future we're talking about.
