Hey all you DUers who like to bash Kansas!!!
Listen up! We are mad as hell and we aren't going to take it anymore.

Check out this thread and these pictures. We are no different from any of the rest of you. Well, maybe we meet up more often:)

1. Aw, just admit it... Kansas sucks.

I went to school at the University of Missouri, so I'm sort of obligated to have a vicerile hatred of Kansas.
Besides which, at the time, my parents lived in Colorado. When I'd drive out to visit them, I'd do that straight shot through Kansas on I-70, just about the most mind-numbingly dull road trip in existence. Spotting a tree was exciting. ;)

2. Gee thanks
for proving my point.

But this discussion is not about geography, it's about the people in the state. And actually, our group represents a two state area. Funny, if you went to Mizzou it seems like you would understand that.

3. Just ribbin' ya...
Like I said, I'm obligated to hate Kansas. It's a sacred trust. I think they'd take away my degree if I didn't.

Seriously, though, the pictures look like you had a helluva lot of fun, and I'm certainly not one to think that Kansas is devoid of intelligent life -- at least, as long as people like you are there :toast:

people in the show me state. :)

I know you are ribbing but there are a ton of people here who think bashing us is A-OK. We are sick to death of it.

B.S. MU 1990. the MU-KU rivalry was still pretty big when I was in school. :)
Looked like a great meetup. I'd like to get back to KC someday.

Now how many national championships has Mizzou won? I lost count. Can't seem to get past ZERO!

We'd love to have you as a guest here in our fine city. :hi:

Our men's baseball team won the championship in 1954. Shows what YOU know! GOD, what do they teach you at KU?

12. I'd love to go back sometime
But MU doesn't win championships because they put their money into academics instead of sports.

SO THERE! :P

J/K of course...

Seriously - something about budget cuts and reduced faculty. Which is a shame since that program at Mizzou is excellent.

23. These things do change all the time...
And often Mizzou is toward the top, along with Syracuse, UNC, Indiana and a few others -- talking undergrad here. With grad programs you have to add Columbia into the mix and take away some of the others.

But:
1) Mizzou is among the best in both undergrad and grad, which almost no other school can say (none that come to my mind, anyway)

2) Mizzou has the oldest journalism school in the world, something that no other school will ever be able to take away.

(Why, yes, I did get a Bachelor's of Journalism at Missouri! How did you know? ;) )

28. Really? Bummer.
Seriously, it was top-flight. Pity to see that, although since there is no journalism in the US anymore, maybe the lack of demand for journalists and the increasing demand for Barbizon models posing as journalists accounted for that.

30. I saw them in Tupelo MS in 97
in a lousy little ampitheater that was the home of a mega-church during the day. Lousy acoustics. Still, it was great to see them do Dust in the Wind.

and still are as a matter of fact, just older, like us!

I saw Kerry a couple of years ago, he looks the same just a little more worn. His brother is a cutie too, he built my barn.

And you've made an excellent point. I'd think with all the flame wars that have gone on around here over Texas, the South, etc, that people would've learned their lesson. Guess not.

29. Love WV
I saw that thread and I did not think it was meant as an insult unless there was another thread like it that I didn't see. I thought it just meant how tough the women were there. Personally I would wear that as a sign of pride.

There is tolerance but sometimes you just have to take a deep breath, suck it up and fight back. It is not easy being blue in a red state and it is not always easy being here from a red state. We have your back.

31. And it sure isn't easy being from Ohio, either
when you get saddled with the WHOLE blame for the reelection of you-know-who...when a) you didn't vote for him and b) for all you know, the fact that you didn't vote for him didn't matter because of some, ahem, electile dysfunction.

And it isn't easy to hear everyone praising Mizzou when you got your own degrees from two other (also top ranked) J-schools!

I guess I should be glad I'm not also a die-hard fan of the rock group Kansas...
