Help. Any sites that show distribution of meth scourge to red states? |
|
Does anyone know if the meth explosion is happening more in red states than blue states? Maps would be most useful.
Thank you in advance for any assistance in this.

2. in the 80s the "scourge" centered in california and hawaii |
|
the rest of us had crack, a cheap cocaine product instead
i'm fairly sure that california and hawaii are democratic states and just as it is unhelpful to blame crack epidemic on blacks (democratic voters) it is probably equally unhelpful to blame speed on some indiana redneck
addiction does not break down by party lines, i would not even advise going down that road because i think it will bite you in the butt

I am not accusing an "Indiana redneck" of using any drugs. I needed a quick-see to gauge which states had the worst meth rates, and I wondered if red states had a worse problem than blue.
This is due to a discussion I was having this morning with a friend, and we were wondering about this.
We were also discussing which states had more abortions, but I won't be accusing red-states of having more "sluts" than blue states.
As for "addiction breaking down by party lines", sad to say I know quite a few liberals who are and were alcoholics and drug addicts.
But thank you for the lecture.

Many people enjoy point by point comparisons of 2 or more points-of-view, by means of empirical sources. Truth telling is good even if difficult. We mustn't continue to hide from, or deliberately turn a blind eye to, our "collective"-selves.
That said, blamings such as "it's either this or it's that . . . or, they're either this or they're that . . .", are objectified externalizations, or oversimplified defense mechanisms, projections of one's own subjective struggles, with out-of-balance something(s) called responsibilities, and ascribing them to "others".

6. Here is another reason I am interested in this |

I have a hypothesis that one of the reasons things like meth seems to be worse in red states is a direct result of conservative policies, fiscal and otherwise.
I want to get to the bottom of why people turn to drugs, whatever state that they are in. And I am very curious as to why, if meth is on the rise, why would it be on the rise in certain parts of the country rather than others.
I live in Georgia, and in this week's paper there was an article about how the meth scourge is coming here to Georgia. There is also an article about how native-born Georgians with high school diplomas or less, are losing their jobs more rapidly than any other group in the state.
This has piqued my curiosity.

what you find. It is BAD here, especially in the rural areas. I don't know a single farmer who has not had their stores raided looking for ingredients or their tanks emptied (ammonia?).

THus the request for the quick-view of a map. I thought that maybe I was off base and meth addiction was worse in the urban north.
Here in Georgia, there is such flux going on, it is amazing. I am new to Georgia, btw.
There is a very large influx of Mexicans here, and everyday I hear the natives blame Mexicans for everything going wrong here. This is in tandem with what few textile and factory jobs that were here closing (Rabun county just closed the last factory which is going to very negatively effect the small town that relied on it for employment).
There are some blue areas in Georgia, but many, many red areas.
I will see what I can find. Thanks!
