WWII resistance: follow fascist orders...sloooowly |
|
I remembered seeing something on the history channel about the Dutch resistance to the Nazis, and a neat passive-aggressive tactic they used was slowing everything down just enough to drive them nuts.
I wonder what the effect would be if people in government agencies that have to implement Bush's orders did that here...
lose a memo
leave a signature off
ship something a day later and miss a deadline
stay home sick a bit more often
I would not advocate anyone do this, of course.
It's just a random thought.

I worked as a programmer at a phone company and received a ticket about an error in billing.....reading the customer's file, I saw a notation where he had requested to "not speak to black reps" (this wish was not being granted; the notation was made solely to point out the customer was an asshole) - I found this customer highly offensive so I didn't do anything, kept getting extensions on the ticket - it drove the customer absolutely crazy (I kept checking the notations section for his screaming complaints). I loved it!

2. Passive-aggressive behavior |

Yep, it can be maddening, and if played properly, one can claim anything from illness to lack of intelligence to simple incompetence to account for it! The way to be VERY successful is to create the appearance of being overwhelmingly busy when the brass strolls through, while doing absolutely nothing at all....

and every office I went into every person was playing solitaire, so it would be tough to do something to make it worse.

4. This is actually not unknown in America. |

It happens from time to time in the Justice Department to buy just a little more time for a case to come to fruition before trial, for example.

In my opinion our current plight is nowhere near what they faced.
2 questions:
Are you willing to die for the cause?
Are you willing to have your family die for the cause?

10. This was done in Czechoslovakia after the Red Army rolled in in 1968 |
|
Russian had been a required subject in school for 20 years, but all of a sudden, no one could speak or read it.
Street signs disappeared.
Supplies for the Red Army "got lost."
