Former US presidential advisor Brzezinski presents plan to quit Iraq

WARSAW - Polish-born former US national security advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski has put together a four-point plan for the United States to withdraw from Iraq, he told private Polish television TVN24.

The plan would allow Washington to disengage gradually in Iraq, ”without victory, but also without defeat,” said Brzezinski, who worked for US President Jimmy Carter.

The first step would involve “Washington suggesting to the Iraqi authorities that they publicly ask the United States to pull out of Iraq,” he said.

Next, a date would be set for US troops to be pulled out, following which the Iraqi government should invite its neighbours to a “regional conference of Muslim countries” aimed at stabilising the situation in Iraq, Brzezinski said.

1. I would pay very good money to hear a debate on Iraq between
Brzezinski and Condiliar.

I think that would be a very illuminating evening.

Meanwhile, in absence of a plan of their own, the Bush administration's warmongers might want to give Zig's idea a look.

2. Sounds like a timetable
and this White House doesn't DO timetables, they use benchmarks.

THe regional meeting could go something like this.

Okay Syria you ammass your forces HERE and Turkey you amass your forces HERE and Iran...well you already have some of your guys in there but you amass your forces HERE and when we drop the red flag everyone race to Baghdad and we will cut up the country according to where you place your colored flag and are able to protect it.

Okay with everyone?

(many nods around the table)

3. Are the first words "Polish-born" so that if Brzezinski's ideas
are implemented and elicit undesirable reactions and consequences, then America's Poland/Polish lobby can be blamed for the problem?
