For those in favor of deporting illegal Mexicans, tell me how we do it?
They keep saying there are millions of them here now. Let's look at the logistics of this.

How do we find them all? Do we check all Hispanic-looking people for their papers? Have them report to their local police department?

What if they are married to an American? What if they've been here for 25 years with a clean record and work history?

What if both parents are illegals and their children are born here, making them Americans? Do we throw them out and have them leave their children behind? Or make them take them with them?

What if a parent brings a child over when he is 2 or 3 and this is the only life, country he has known? Must person, now a legal adult, be forced to pay for a parent's decision?

What do we do with all the possessions and money they've accumulated during their time here? Do we confiscate it?

How do we get them all back to Mexico? Load them up in trains and drop them off at the border? What if someone is too sick to travel?

So, those who want them all to just go back to Mexico, start answering some of these questions and perhaps you can convince me that this is even a viable option.

1. It's not...
but the idea of loading up different people into trains and buses and shipping them off to 'whar they come from' makes neocon nipples rock hard.

6. You think the illegals "deserve" the luxury of Amtrack
Heck, someone in this thread evidently doesn't.

2. I posted in another thread
that in the latter stages of World War II, the United States was shipping 250,000 troops a month overseas. Thousands of miles rather than hundreds. But then most of us that have served in the military know that we weren't able to demand the treatment illegal immigrants would be afforded.

5. Perhaps we could use cattle cars
Would that be more to your liking? Perhaps something like this. So what if these is not food, water or bathroom facilities? That'll teach them for breaking the law.

8. I guess Hispanics are the new Muslims
What amazes me is how much hatred and vitriol is reserved for our fellow human beings while the corporations, which are posting record-breaking profits, are not held accountable for victimizing people and perpetuating the system.

If the big business was forced to be accountable and stopped hiring them, they would stop coming in record numbers.

All this is is a ploy to pit struggling working class people against one another so they can continue exploiting ALL of us.

I can't believe how many people here are falling for it.

It's the tried and true strategy of divide and conquer. I guess gay marriage and abortion were getting stale, so we get immigration now to fire up the masses.

9. You guys or gals

are the ones playing into big businesses hands.
Did you just see the guy on the News Hour from the CATO institute?
When asked if these freshly minted legal residents/citizens would still be willing to do "those jobs citizens won't do"? He admitted they would not and there would have to be more immigrants let in then for those jobs. Does no one see a pattern here? This is all about depressing wages and increasing profits.
I'm an advocate of penalties for the employers of illegals that would go up to taking their license to do business.
But, at this time, I'm much more concerned for my fellow citizens that are unemployed or under employed than I am about people that entered this country illegally.
Your other responses aren't worthy of my response. Much like people from the other side, many here think attacking the character of people or calling names is a debating tool.
Just to add, I spent some time in Chicago doing one of "those jobs citizens won't do". Worked down on Sedgwick for Oscar Meyer, running a bacon slicing machine.

On edit, care to address the issues I have raised or have you deemed me not worthy of your time?

13. I did maid work every weekend during high school to
earn money for college. Illegals have suppressed the earnings in such jobs.

15. They've also suppressed the wages
in many formerly decent paying jobs such as construction. But then these are jobs that obviously many of the posters here would not do.

16. Why punish the workers?
Why not HEAVILY fine the companies that are employing them? Perhaps they would stop doing it.

I'm not saying they aren't used to suppress wages. I will argue that you are attacking the wrong target.

They are as much a victim of big business as you were. What about uniting and demanding fair wages?

We have accepted GITMO and spying without a huge outcry.

They're boiling frogs and we're in the pot.

why not just keep them here. it would be more brown people to pack into ghettos and use as cheap labor. god knows we've almost used the ones we have here up. to the point that we forget about them, cause we care so much for the issue of the day. a crackers dream.

11. How about the illegals with children born in the U.S.?
We contract out our building maintenance to a janitorial company. They use illegals. One of their workers gave birth here very recently. The baby is now a U.S. citizen. What do we do now?

The mother was a hard worker who worked up to the time of birth. She has paid taxes.
