1. Very Strange. What browser are you using? |
|
Are you clicking on a bookmark?

4. I am using Internet Explorer and not clicking on any bookmark. |
|
It's individual posts, in my own threads as well as other peoples threads.
The discussion thread from last night was thrust into the DU Lounge. I'll try to find it.
My DU journal is www.journals.democraticunderground.com/Radio_Lady
Other people can see it, but I can't see it when I'm logged in. However, when I log out, I can see it and even ADD to the journal through posts only. Weird.
In peace,

you are logged in. Try doing it from various screens and tell me if that also gives you a blank screen.
It would be helpful if we knew.
Thanks.

15. UPDATE: Firefox browser was installed on my husband's machine. |
|
Right now, it appears I cannot log in to the DU at all -- the browser can't find the main page. Journal comes up as if I were a guest.
What a mess!

22. More to ponder: Firefox looked as if it would allow me to edit -- |
|
my journal. It came up with the right icons, MY DU -- etc. -- but when I tried one out, I got this --
Fatal error: Call to undefined function output_error_page() in /home/httpd/html/mydu.php on line 11.
So, where does this bug report go?

3. Also happening to me. And I cannot get in to my OWN JOURNAL! |
|
Edited on Mon Apr-03-06 10:14 PM by Radio_Lady
I emailed and PMed Elad yesterday but haven't heard from him. The only way I can see my journal, and many others posts with no rhyme or reason -- is to LOG OUT. Rhiannon suggested it and it worked last night.
So glad I'm not the only one. Hope they get this fixed pronto.
Is Earl G around somewhere?
Thanks so much.

7. I sent elad an email about this and this is what he replied. |
|
He asked me to tell him what browser I was using; what version of windows and is it happening on particular threads, or randomly? If particular threads, which ones? Does the page stop loading, or does it "spin" or keep thinking and hang?
I haven't answered him yet, but if we all email him what we are experiencing then he might be able to find out what's going on.

My first email to Elad went out last night.
I'm using Windows XP home edition -- I'm experiencing BLANK PAGES in random threads (see list from the past few days in above post). No spinning. No loading. No thinking (hour glass icon, etc.) Just immediately hangs. The WORST thing is -- I can't get to my journal EXCEPT when I am LOGGED OUT -- then of course, I can see it, but can't get to the journal editing function. I come in as a guest or lurker!
Jeepers, creepers.
I'll be glad when this is over. Hopefully soon.
In peace,
Radio_Lady

The first times it happened, I just listed the blank pages in a Word document. But it was just a few days after the journal feature was activated.
Something is seriously wrong here. I'm trying to get someone to focus on this, but no luck so far.
Appreciate your post.

My husband converted to Firefox today and likes it.
My son-in-law recommended it several days ago.
But I haven't tried to go to the DU on his computer.
I feel like I've been infected here!!!!!

17. You don't seem to have started a journal. I did -- and was able to |
|
get it going in the usual fashion.
But now, I can only VIEW it by logging out.
I can't get to it LOGGED IN as a signed in user to manipulate any of the features.
Just get the same blank page as threads that I had been earlier. DU LOGO in the upper left, DONE in the lower left on the status bar.
I assume you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer.
By the way, I am not having this problem at any other site (pages that come up blank or won't load).

This used to happen to me all time when I used IE on my Mac. Pages would load, but half the stuff was blank, or would disappear after it loaded. The most aggravating excuse for "software" I've ever used, and I cannot believe that POS still commands the most market share. IE is absolute SHIT. You'd be better off with a Flintstone's computer that uses a saber-tooth wolverine carving pages on a piece of stone.

Reports that people on the DU cannot get to my journal.
Try it yourself and report back to me. Use the button on this post.

Happy anniversary to me, etc.

25. Don't look for me to give you a big hug when YOUR computer has |

problems!!! Maybe not in this century but???
Hugs from Radio_Lady in the trenches with Windows XP Home Edition and Windows Explorer, which I guess most of the world is using these days.
My biggest back up feature is my software engineer husband, who stayed up until 4AM this morning to try and fix my computer crashes. Now he's out in the garden on a beautiful spring day, pruning the rhododendrons, I guess.
To ALP, "Love you honey! I owe you BIGTIME if we get this fixed together."

is that blood group Type "O"? I forgot -- just recall that my stepson has that type.
But, let's not talk about that any more.
Looks like I'm having success with the newly installed browser Firefox (Mozilla) on my PC.
What do you Mac users have for a browser?
In the early 1990s, I did some copywriting while and worked on a PC using Word for Windows maybe release 1.0 or 2.0. That was for an industrial paint company, Surface Protection Industries, in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. I worked with an artist who used a Mac (don't all artists?) -- I was constantly having to use Mac-to-DOS functions and coding. Gee, that was fun.....
********************
My granddaughter's elementary school library has all iMacs for the kids. The librarian had to give me some instructions on how to use one the day I volunteered.
I LOVED the little curvy red-yellow-green icons up at the top. Cool!
